    BeeBee1000,

Do you have a plan? A 97 VD is not the type of car one just goes out and drives lap after lap for hours and hours.

Things get loose, fall off, go boom.

The motor is only good for 16 to 20 hours. Are you planning to use up 1/4 of it's life in one weekend?

Scares me a little that you are planning to go out in a car you have just taken delivery of without a lot of checking and preparation. Seat pouring, belt adjusting, yadda, yadda, yadda.

    Rev limit 6700.

I wouldn't go out with a tire harder than hoosier 45 or GY 250 this time of year. Then you'll need a few laps before you have real grip. I'd be out on 35s, maybe even 25s in the morning.

Hate to see you destroy your wallet (or worse, a 97 VD) on your first outing. Be careful.

    Default first tests

If this is a first test weekend, I would treat it like a school - and run fairly severe rev limits for the first couple of sessions. Saves the motor and lets you concentrate on corner entry, lins, braking, etc.

Froggie is right. VIR is a wonderful and pretty safe place but very unforgiving when cold. I see too many new car owners trying to recoup their tire investment by using the old ones that came with the car. Forget it. If you have no time to plan it, call SASCO Sports - Dave Handy- at the track before you come & see if he can provide and mount some soft Avon's for you while you're there. He may also be able to provide valuable & skilled trackside assistance and test session planning for you. Do it right!

    Bee,
Great advise above. If you have a new car (single seater for you?) BE SURE to put a wrench on every nut/bolt before you run it...and you'll need to once it over constantly durning your weekends. These things tend to rattle stuff loose so keep a sharp eye on it.

I reved my Elite to 6800.

    Be safe & have fun.

    Thx, DR

This weekend is member day. I won't make Saturday, but I will be there on Sunday. I have '69 Macon FF #51. Red trailer with white Denali

Glad to have more people in the Open Wheel class. What are you driving?
