    Default CanAm Cup Details

    Hi all,

As many of you are aware the inaugural CanAm Cup is fast approaching. I therefore wanted to pass on some info and encourage all of you to attend.

The CanAm Cup is a Formula Ford trophy race being contested at Mosport International Raceway, October 1, 2006. Running in conjunction with Rounds 13 and 14 of the Ontario Formula Ford Challenge, the race will feature top Formula Ford drivers battling one another for the prestigious CanAm Cup.

So why should you be there if you race a Formula Ford, here a few reasons:

You get to compete against 30-50 other Formula Ford drivers in dedicated sessions. That means every level of driver will have someone to dice with throughout the weekend, as well as no other types of formula cars to contend with.

You will get 114 minutes of track time on one of the premier road courses in North America for an entry of $350 Cdn. This comes in the form of two 15-minute warm-ups, two 20-minute qualifying sessions, a 22-minute plus a lap Ontario Formula Ford Challenge race on Saturday and the 22-minute plus lap CanAm Cup race on Sunday.

The entire weekend will receive extensive media coverage. Throughout the weekend, FormulaCar Magazine and eformulacarnews.com will provide race reports and news, with same-day information available online. Each session will have play-by-play coverage on the track PA system. Finally the CanAm Cup Winner will be profiled in an upcoming issue of FormulaCar and grace the front cover of the magazine.

The CanAm Cup race will feature a full podium ceremony, with awards and champagne being given out.

A tire buy back program has been introduced. For those drivers who normally race on slicks, you need to buy a set of Dunlop treaded tires used by the Ontario Formula Ford (contact Britain West Motorsports at 519-756-1610). At the end of the weekend, if you tires are undamaged you can sell them back to an OFFC competitor for $400 Cdn, getting almost half of your original cost ($973.56 Cdn) back.

Last but not least, fans, friends and family can attend the event for free. The Canadian Automobile Sport Clubs – Ontario Region provides free tickets which can be downloaded from the website http://www.casc.on.ca/index.php

For those interested Mosport will conduct a track test day on the Friday prior to the event, September 29. If you register with the track prior to September 22, the five 35-minutes sessions will cost $275 Cdn. After that date it will cost $325.

While you may register for the weekend when you arrive at the track, you can pre-register by printing an entry form http://www.casc.on.ca/forms/raceonta...ryform06-a.pdf and faxing or emailing it in before you arrive.

If you have any questions regarding the event, please feel free to contact me. I’ll be glad to help in any way, including detailing crossing the border for those traveling from the U.S.

So as you can see the CanAm Cup is going to be great event and we encourage all the Formula Ford drivers from throughout Ontario, Quebec and SCCA Northeast and Central divisions to make the drive to Mosport. Why not be part of history.

    Cheers,

    Default Tire buy back/Test Day

    Just to follow:

We already have racers lining up to buy back tires so no worries there.

OFFC also has a "B" group (72 to 84) Club Fords also welcome.
