I will have totals, and thanks to compliance numbers Terri has them...all she has to do is look at the amount paid over to us (BUT, that includes Regionals and Nationals). We are WAY up from last year. BUT, I sent everyone to Regionals for the FCM series, so Nationals will be down. After all OUR National Championship is at Road Atlanta (ARRC), everyone else will be in Kansas.

    Default A couple of observations

First, Formula classes make up 3 of the top 5, 4 of 7 and 5 of 9. Not bad.

Second, Spec classes are the top two and who knows how much FA has benefitted from the two Spec cars that run in that class.

This forum is made up of mostly guys that like to tinker, but the numbers don't lie. There are a lot of racers that want to drive and not go through the endless hours in the shop engineering that last 10th. That's the reason I'm in the class I'm in (FSCCA) and I think we're seeing the shape of things to come (Champ Car - Spec Chassis and Engine).

Flame away, and yes I am the CSR for FSCCA in CenDiv so take my observations at that value.

BTW, I've never seen so many "real" Atlantics at any one National than I did at this year's Sprints, so that class may be okay without us.

Would it be that Club Atlantic class is strong because of reesonably priced cars coming out of the Pro Series as they update their chassis and/or motors, what, 3 times in the last few years?

Strong Pro series with trickle down= strong club participation....time after time

    Eric,
Thats the info I was interested in. I personally ran 8+ Nats last year but only 2 this year. Plans changed after the FSCCA FCM series developed. Running all regionals and not chasing Nat. points to do the runoffs. Wondering how real FA #'s will be affected overall - I'm sure there are others doing the same thing.

Jason, I went through the 49 National race results I have and found only 29 F-SCCA, plus 4 SR-SCCA entries. I am confident that there are more that weren't propoerly identified on results sheets, but that's what I found. Stan

SCCA have just now posted class participation data for all National classes on their website, good through 64 of 69 planned National races.

Hmm, I hear a lot of the things that make me enjoy SRF so much. Close racing, large fields, etc. AND spec cars, truely spec cars.

But some people I know in SRF used to race SM and the costs they are talking about are MUCH higher than have been thrown around here. According to people who seriously raced int eh class, a National level car is in teh $35K and UP range. And there are Huffacker ungines and there are Huffacker engines. Not to mention Sunblet and others.

Default Think Topeka is the cause?

Extrapolate, Interpolate, etc. All good stuff.

I wonder if the national numbers are what are down compared to
    the regional numbers.

    I say TOW-pekka. You say 2PEEKa?

Good catch, pru! I am particularly intrigued by this phrase from the third paragraph, "...and several more new classes being recently approved..." Since the BoD just met, I wonder what that means?

Me? I'm staying tuned to the SCCA website!
