    Default Harvey Schmitt

I just got word from Jennie Morsch that Harvey Schmitt passed away this week at 72 years. Harvey was a formula car senior statesman and always had a smile on his face particularly when he was jumping out of his car after a race. He was registered to race this weekend at Mid-Ohio and had even ordered his tires through Continental Motorsports so this comes as a jolt to all of us. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers. We've got another open-wheeler looking after us.

    Default Sad indeed

I knew Harvey well, working with him off an on over the years when I'd work with Jim and Jennie back in their F2000 days.

Nicest guy you'd ever want to know. As Joe says always a smile on his face.

    Farwell old friend.

    Default Say it isn't so

Last season Harvey came up to Grattan to run in the GLC opener. He said he had the time of his life learning a new track. He then had eye surgery and took the summer months off to recover. He made it out M.O. in the fall and raced as hard as I had ever seen him run. He never failed to amaze me. Pretty fun having a 70 year old drive you down to the 150' mark in T5 at Mid Ohio, just to make sure I knew he wasn't going to just give me the position. He still had the goods. I was truly looking forward to seeing him again this season, as I knew he had planned on running at Mid Ohio for our last two GLC races.

We will miss having Harvey around the paddock.
