    Default NEC BeaveRun Roll Call

Haven't heard much from the NEC crowd lately...

Who's headed to BeaveRun for the double regional this coming weekend?

Is the group looking to establish a common paddock area?

    Thanks,
    Erik

    Default BeaveRun...

I spoke with the registrar last night and it looks like there is only one FF registered for this weekend at the Beave. There are a few CFs, too. Based on the weak registration for FF, I have decided not to run.

Sounds like a pretty small turnout. I'm planning to attend with my club Ford. Sent a late registration. Will be running CF or FF depending on the tire rules. I'm still using hand-me-down tires so don't have any 600's. Sorry you're passing on this event Ralph. Do you know who else is registered?

    Default NEC-6 at BeaveRun

Yes, the 6th round of the New England Challenge is scheduled for BeaveRun this weekend.

It's pretty obvious that the Eastern Ohio / Western Pennsylvanai has become a proverbial formula car desert. There has never been more than a couple FF1600's at BeaveRun for a regional and the same is pretty much true for Nelson Ledges. Mid-Ohio draws a little better, but not by much. As for the rest of NEDiv and CENDiv, it's just too far to tow from the areas that do support open wheel racing, such as the Lake Michigan area or Ct/Mass.

Because of the low formula car turnout (not just FF, but also FC, etc), the sponsoring region groups all the open wheel cars together into a single race group that will end up with maybe a dozen cars. This leaves the rest of the day's schedule for the closed wheel cars like Spec Miata that get fuller fields. This frustrates the open wheel drivers even more and further reduces the open wheel car counts.

I'll be there with my DB-1 and will probably use my 12 heat cycle 160's. If anyone's got FF or CFF with some old tires, bring it out and maybe we can have a cheap date.

    Default Outside chance

There's an outside chance that I could be there on Sunday...like Bob, I've got some very, very well used tires that I'm sure will cost me several seconds...
