    Default FF header

I have a header off of a DB-1 that came with a car that I recently bought. It is much shorter than the one currently on the car. It appears that the short one was cut down on purpose. Is there a benefit to running a short exhaust pipe as opposed to a long one?. Other than crash damage why shorten the exh. pipe?
