    Default The Ridge gearing

General consensus is to start with Spokane gears and go from there. That said, I believe only one ff has ran there so far and no 2 liters yet. If your running the scca event or skipping orp you won't even have to open up your box. Stop by our pits next weekend and we'll chat about it.

The silence is deafening. Too bad.

    Sheldon, I ran SR on May 30, 2011 with a 10/31 R&P but on Good Year 250's, and I used 15/30, 16/24, 19/24 and 24/27 gears.
With that I clocked a 1.24.847 in the race for a first in class finish.
Track was dry with a warmish 70 degrees Fahrenheit.

But maybe that was because it was my birthday. Who knows.

I hope this helps, and hope you enjoy yourself this weekend.

I would have answered him, Michael. But I've gotten rid of the computer with my gearing on it and, we let all the paper sheets go with the cars back to Michigan.

Yours look right Especially the 2:1 first for 3B.

Unfortunately, I didn't see this until we were already on route to the track and I never found time to make the change. I'll definitely try that gearing next time out.

My guestimated gearing wasn't terrible so I don't think it slowed me down too much. This was the first time out with the car and only my second time at PR so gearing was the least of my issues.

    Thanks,

What's the gearing for the new Thompson Speedway? I'd start with the WGI 4th and maybe a NHMS 1st. The first righthander behind the dirt hill is the beginning of the long straight and will need the correct 2nd.

    Default Spokane Gearing... Again

    Hi Guys,

I'm looking for a baseline for Spokane in a Zetec VD with lastest SCCA club map and 10:31. I'm not sure if anyone's run a zetec there but thoughts comparing to pinto (if there's any difference) might help as well!

And also any feedback on the recommended gears for Portland?

If you don't want to share publicly shoot me and email or PM.

    Thanks in advance.

The F2KCS mapping (IIRC, the same as the latest club map) wants to be shifted around 6800, at least mine does.

16:31, 20:30, 23:29, 24:26. With 10:31 and Avon tires......I would have to check but I am guessing we are at 6600-6800 at the end of the straight

Portland baseline is in the link on the first post in the thread.

I will get you Spokane gears when I get to my computer that has them on it, sometime between now and may ;-) but you can figure it out from slow speed is 37 mph in the first hairpin, top speed should be about 143 mph, and the exit of turn nine is about 80 mph.

Edit: my dad beat me to it

Default Thunderhill full 5 mile track

This is aimed at the relatively few of you that have actually run the full 5 mile layout. Does the standard T-hill gearing work, or are you finding that the new back half requires taller ratios?

    Default Thompson 1.7-mile road course

Anyone have any info on what gears to run for the new Thompson 1.7-mile road course? Tires are F2000 Championship Series radials, 22.4" diameter. Zetec F2000.

10/31 CWP gears preferred, but can convert from other CWP's.

    Thanks in advance,

Default Gears I ran at Thompson

I ran 18/33, 20/30, 23/29, 25/27. If I run there again, I would use 18/33, 21/30, 23/28, 25/27 to allow no shift out of 2nd into 3rd after oval and also take 2nd-last corner before straight in 2nd.

There's a tight hairpin that needs a 17/35 first. You might get away with a 15/30. I believe they will run the oval turns 3 and 4, like the last time I was there, so you want a tall 4th- 24/28 at least I would guess. 2nd and 3rd should be spaced out- maybe a 20/32 and a 22/29 or similar. Turns 2-4 are fairly tight, then a straight followed by a medium speed increasing radius sweeper and another longer straight leading to the hairpin.

A couple of people tried to take wings off to get more speed on the banking- it was pretty funny watching them try to turn in at turn 1...

Last time I was there my best speed on the backstretch (I call the cornfield straight) was 117 mph in a 5 speed FM, if that helps.

    Default Homestead Gearing for FC

I plan on running Homestead latter part of June and was looking for gearing recommendations. FC with a 10/31 diff. I have this info from an earlier post; 17/33 19/31 22/29 24/27. Is this correct? I've heard the track layout may have changed recently. Thanks for any info.

Does anyone have an idea of gears for this track configuration at Pocono ???

The North/South combined road course at Pocono Raceway has been completed! The 2.26 mile N/S course has been completely rebuilt, widened from 30 feet to 45 feet with run-off areas, compacted and fine graded, beyond the track surface at a level with the track pavement. New concrete international curbing has been installed at all appropriate locations along the track. There will also be a total of 17 different road course combinations that can be run either clockwise or counter-clockwise for various different kinds of events. The combined North/South course to be used by Tri-Region in a clock-wise direction is shown in yellow.
