Default New RMDIV Formula Ford Challenge

Over lunch last fall, a few Colorado Region CF drivers figured out that there are over 50 FF and CFF in the RMDIV. Yet, average turn out is only 4 cars per race. So, after a little brainstorming, a small group of RMDVIV FF enthusiasts have decide to follow Steve Beeler's lead. We have organized an eight race regional series for FF and CFF to take place over four double regional weekends in 2005:

    April 30 - May 1, LaJunta Raceway
May 28 - 30, Pikes Peak International Raceway
    July 16 - 17, Pueblo Motorsports Park
    September 3 - 4, Second Creek Raceway

The best six of eight races will count towards the driver championships. Driver championship points will be awarded through the first nine places in each class (12-9-7-6-5-4-3-2-1) plus 1 point each for pole and fastest lap.

We are fortunate to have attracted sponsors for the series including Bradford Precision Engines, Big T Fuel, Competition Engines, Front Range Motorsports, 3R Racing, Road Racing Services, Sign Edge, and Titan Motorsports North America. Other sponsors are pending.

One of the primary misssions of the Challenge is to foster the FF driver network. A portion of the paddock will be reserved for FF/CF competitors. Plus, Saturday evenings will feature cookouts, tech talks, awards, and door prizes. There will be awards and prizes for everyone (not just podium finishers). If you would like to get involved, or have any questions, please get in touch with one of the commitee members below.

    Very truly yours,

    The FF Challenge Committee

Bob Abrams, Andy Antipas, Tom Klimas, JD McDermott, and Mark Zarlengo

This is great news for the formula car community. The development of another Challenge series to bring together a region's racers will continue to help create even more momentum in the open wheel categories.

This series can count on full support from FormulaCar Magazine.

Right now, I'd love to see a list grow on this thread in regards to who will be running this program. I'm putting together our season preview issue over the next couple of weeks and I'd like to get the names of some drivers for this segment.

    Hey Guys,

Good to hear about the new FF challenge. Sucks didn't happen when I was living out there in Denver. Question for you. I thought Second Creek was now closed. What's the latest.

    Cheers,

    Default RMDIV CF/FF Challenge

    Al,

Second Creek got a one year reprieve from the city council for 2005 only. A few issues with sound control, but nothing to stand in our way for a full season for SCCA.

The fact remains that 2005 is the final year for Second Creek!

We have started canvasing all CF/FF owners/drivers in the RMDIV via a post card, postage included, whether they will participate in any/all of the four (4) double regional race weekends on the RMDIV 2005 schedule.

    Regards,

    Tom Klimas
