Hello everyone,


The forums are up and running again, as ytou can see, in a very new and very upgraded look and feel. We have been working on a new setup for a while, because the previous software was becomming a massive resource hog, and killing our server package. All this means is now an improved forum with faster performance, and a lot more features. I will get to more of the features shortly.

You will notice some different things now with the forums, including a new forum structure. We have consolidated a few forums that were redundant, and added some new forums where it was felt they were needed. There is a new General area for posts that may relate to all forms of formula cars, including a new Classifieds for things that may be pertinent to all facets of the forums.

There will be some who are unhappy with the changes, but it takes time to get used to new things. The new layout and system is definitely for the better.


We will be posting tips and tricks in the new Suggestions forum to announce some of the cool things that this new board can do, including picture uploads.


Bear with us while we work through the bugs with the new software. If you have any issues you feel are glaring, please send a note to troubleshooting@apexspeed.com. We'll deal with it as soon as we can.

In the conversion process from the old board to the new board, there was an issue with log-in names. The previous UBB board used 2 different names for your account; a login name and a visible name. These are now gone. We had to select one registration name to translate to the new forums.

You can log in using your visible screen name and not your previous login name. It is a slight inconvenience and we apologize for any confusion.

Something else you may need to edit, is your signature file. For some reason, they did not translate perfectly from the old UBB forums.

Does the "New Posts" function the same as the old button that let you see all the active discussions in any topic? I really liked how the very latest post was always at the top.

WYSIWYG is wizzy.

Thanks to the forums being down this weekend, I was able to get so much done. I did some dishes, vacuumed most of the house, made some beds, and even cooked dinner.

One question, the posts that have embedded links to other threads on the site, can those be translated somehow into the new board URLs?

Unfortunately, no. The old forums will be removed in a few days when it looks like everything here is working like it should. The old threads are here in one piece, but the links to the former CGI-BIN pages will be gone forever.

A simple edit to the original post and link should take care of anything that exists and current.

Great new look - glad you're back! Almost couldn't get logged back into the site. OK, I guess that's what you get for never logging out - forgot my password. No sweat renewing it though. At least I knew my username and email address - two out of three's not that bad!

My God, I can't believe it's been almost 34 years since I've visited the forum! (Hey, where did the smilees go? I need one here.) But seriously, looks good, gonna take a little getting used to. Will there be a way to go straight to the FC forums so I don't have to wade through the other stuff to get there? Some of the topics such as Engine, Chassis, Aerodynamics and Electronics are missing. Are they gone forever? Thanks and keep up the good work.

Glad to see ApexSpeed back on the net. But is it just me, or does the site seem to be much darker than before? All the grays and dark colors, while providing a nice contrast to the green, just leaves me feeling like I'm in a cave or something.

Thanks guys, I know change is tough for all of us to deal with, but it was time to move forward from our disconnected sites that had developed over the past 4 years. I'm sure some of you guys who have been with us since we first came up with the idea to start a new community during the debacle that the old timers affectionately call the "blue board" are just as proud as we are as how far we have come in 4 years.

The look and feel is something I have been developing for some time, and will be integrated throughout the rest of the site, as well. We have plans for a real user gallery, that should really develop this time, as well as integrating more resources for all formula car classes.


Curtis, I thought I had updated your avatar when I did the rest (there were quite a few things that didn't translate well in the conversion). If you would like your old one back, you can use this one, and upload it at your leisure...




There are still more things to fix and update, like a few of the odd looking stock buttons that I didn't finish, as well as the Contributing Member titles for those who have donated to keeping this site running.

The new site looks good, and performance is definitely improved.

But when I was editing my profile at the User CP page and clicked on "Attachments," I was informed that "You have no attachments." Please tell me the word isn't being used in the same sense that David Hobbs uses it.

I believe the 'attachments' in the userCP shows what files you have uploaded to the site. It gives you an idea of what stuff you have associated with your user profile.

Under your user CP, go to 'Edit Options' and make sure the option to show avatars is checked about 2/3rds down the page.

Sorry, Keith. I knew that; I should have used a smiley. Hobbs often says thing like "It takes a large set of attachments to go through Eau Rouge flat." Having an impudent piece of software telling you that "you have no attachments" might be taken as insulting, if you were painfully literal-minded.

So where do I find the smiley that means "failed attempt at obscurely droll humor?"
