    Gentlemen:

I have a '90 Swift DB4 Toyota Atlantic. Car currently equiped with that era Electromotive HPV3b ignition system and Webber carbs. Due to intermitant miss problems, that after changing plug wires, coils etc etc, I've finally traced to the ignition unit, I'm faced with replacing the main ignition unit. I'm comtemplating upgrading to a newer ignition system.

My question is, what is the current 'hot tip' on ignition systems for this engine with carbs?

Thanks to everyone for making this a great site!

We use a first generation TRD Atlantic ECU for ignition control. I don't know where you can get one, but a couple of years ago they were cheaply available. The unit will also run EFI, though only to 9800 RPMs. It works well in just its ignition control mode, though, and is fully programmable. Maybe start by asking your engine builder.
