First my appologies to those of you digging out of the weekend snow. VARA threw a party at Phoenix International Racewas for about 200 of our colsest friends. We had visitors from as far away as Texas, The Pesters and Denny Bridges from Albuquerque along with a big turn out of RMVR drivers. Saturday evening there was a party with white linen tablecloths and wine, food and great conversation. We also had Peter Bryant, designer of the Shadow CanAm cars as our special guest. The weather threatened Friday but Saturday and Sunday we got Sunny 70 degree weather. The track was really fast Sunday and Chuck Pittenger managed a run from the back of a 22 car FF field to the front in 13 laps. Doing so he logged a 1:07 which is 1 second below his best ever at PIR. We had a big group of cars turning in the 1:08 and 1:09 bracket and Old Miss Lola (with even older me driving) managed a 1:10 and that was only good enough for a 9th plaqce finish. It was a very close field.

hey murray since I trashed the whole front of my Hawke at PIR I'm looking for a titan roller or basket case I can rebuild. Unless I can get a new chassis for the Hawke I wouldn't have the slightest idea how
to rebuild it since it is so destroyed.

Bob, I will do that tommorow. Allen I was sorry to see what happened to your car. I was glad to see that you came out of it far better than the car. If I hear of a Titan I will pass it along, or if you want a fast car you might want to consider a Lola T-200 series. ;). We will have to wait until you get things sorted out to have another good go like we had at the California Speedway.

I know the above post is a bit confusing but I could not get the columns to line up, but I am sure you guys can figure it out. Chuck managed a 80 mph average on his fast lap. I was using a 24:27 top gear with a 9:31 final drive and getting 6700 rpm at the end of the main straight. It is a pretty fast little course.

Murray, don't forget that Ron Enlow was there, all the way from Virginia.

Shoot dumb old me, I did not know Ron came from that far away. I was part of the old and slow group to give him a good finish position. Ron really looked good out there and try as I might I just could not catch him. Thanks for joining us.

    Allan,

I know a of a guy in Upland that builds 1/4 & 1/2 Midgets and Jr. Dragsters. When I got hit at Fontana he made suspension parts for me while I waited for $50 hr. cash. He has the jigs and tooling to repair or replace your chassis. He is excellant but you have to pay him cash. Give me a call for details.

Hey how about that rookie Brian! I guess racing a kart carries over.
Great weekend. Wish I could have finished the race Sunday. I was having a great time with 4 of us running together nose to tail. all the time checking mirrors and watching Pittenger get bigger and bigger. :)
    Vegas next.

    Chris
