Hey Pat,
I am just seeing your post, but if you have not found anything yet, give Arrive Drive a buzz. Normally they do the F1000/1600/2000 cars, but Dustin Hodges has a Porsche they are doing...
I think there may be 1-2 cars down there, but I am not sure they are even active lately. At this point, FST unfortunately basically only exists with the main series, which is the Michigan thru...
what exactly are you struggling with it doing?
thanks, Steve.
is that the car that I saw you mention somewhere was never raced?
does it have the standard Citation body? the chassis looks different than my limited knowledge of Citations, like...
I know people have been looking & asking online, and I noticed it was not posted here yet... so here is the 2024 schedule for Challenge Cup & DriverZ Cup (since there is a lot of crossover).
...
Steve,
I know this is getting off topic... but do you have more pics of the rear frame structure?
It's always neat to see something different from the standard thinking in FV.
- the cheaper initial route always ends up more expensive. and much sooner than you expect.
- most people are just doing it that way "because that is how you do it".
- the fast guys are not...
ha, well... on cool/cold days, we have run over 40, but that put oil just over 250 on my own. it was unstoppable on top end, but we get killed off slower corners.
One thing I would clarify on this... is that the high octane fuels in our engines absolutely do help, if your builder sets everything up for it.
We have tried all sorts of fuels in my engine, and...
The issue with the PUY was in turn 1 with 2-3 laps to go, for the caution that ended the race. I did not see what was flying at station 1 (drivers left on corner entry), but we could see station 2...
While I did not directly mention droop limiting, I thought I kinda was with my weight transfer and limiting corner-off understeer references.
Ok. Whatever.
I am in the paddock, talking to the guys with these cars, then on track & winning races/championships. You are in your garage pontificating.
I'm out.
Are we just ignoring the main point in the first half of my reply, where I address literally what you are talking about?
A car that is built to sit 1" off the ground & doesn't pitch or yaw does...
I again am hesitant to post in one of these threads... but I will just throw out there that Brians car sits VERY low & stiff, similar to Varacins & Weishiet. Other cars who do ride higher & let the...
that was one of the sessions you are really glad to see end. at least ice would've been consistently bad, not just scary in patches. lol
I am still holding out & waiting on another vertical...
This is the suspension on Brads FST that I have been driving on & helping develop the past year. It really makes the car more responsive when you tell it to change direction... no more small delays...
strength & stress.
people are bending & snapping surprisingly beefy steel arms anymore, I cannot imagine how large the aluminum versions would have to be to even start being safe. and a lot of the...
As Steve mentions... no one is changing front camber for the radials. We always want as much as we can get in a FV because things will flex & tuck the front tire anyway.
Rear camber is another...
Jared did a decent vid earlier this year when he poured his seat for his Vee.

there is 1 or 2 out west, as mentioned above, but the only real activity with FST is the main group of 10-12 in the Great Lakes area.
ya know what?
Brian is 100% right.... front shocks mean absolutely nothing, and I strongly encourage everyone I race against to only use steering dampers instead of performance shocks. and if you...
no worries.
another small point to keep in mind, is that when you set pressures... make sure the the shock is fully extended, or the car is off the ground, etc. if you try to set pressure with the...
I do not know for 100% certainty what Penske would say, but they told us to use 100psi on the new 7120 shocks. And to not go below 90psi due to foaming. I am guessing they feel the same for the Reds.
I think I will listen to what QuickSilver + the worlds largest aircooled piston engine supplier have found.
Whatever you want to believe.
I will believe my engine builder & the dyno sheet.
a Public Records Request? I like that. lol
And as several others have stated, there is absolutely no law saying they cannot sell it. Heck, my local airport people are always happy to chat & hear...
Thanks guys!
But I have to give the credit to Brad Buenting for the speed. The rear suspension he came up with for the car is the whole reason I was offered the drive. We did really well out of...
Interesting. I had no idea that matching was a thing. I have been lucky that my stuff was matched, but I was always careful to make sure I got the correct part numbers when I ordered them over the...
Oh, absolutely not leaving FV. The opportunity to drive for Brad Buenting & Lynn Bishop came up thru Robert Guhde. They bought the #90 Silver Bullet that was for sale on here, as they are trying to...
I made a post in the FST Facebook group, but in case not everyone is on that platform, I thought I should post here too.
Anyway, I just wanted to leave a big thank you to all the FST people who...
Would you not just need to adjust your droop limiter at that point?
I would guess there is some way to test it yourself, but I am not sure what is "proper" to get a true reading. Probably involving a bathroom scale & levers.
I would look into sending it somewhere,...
Correct, the pushrods are what we adjust camber with.
Adjusting the spring seat will change the preload on the spring, which may or may not be what you want, based on your droop amount. But I have...
Greg,
We run our rockers so they work the shock *to* 12 o'clock, at what we figure is max compression normally. And we do not even concern ourselves with pushrod length (aside from making them...
Those were 3 huge points that the Glen Region school did in '08 when I did mine. Especially the difference between a red & black situation. In addition, we had a couple examples thrown at us for a...
Just a guess from personal experience, but I would not be surprised if it got yanked sideways because of the rollbar being so far back and/or the strap moved more to the side of the rollhoop. With...
I don't see your main vision panning out at all... but in the past months since this discussion, DriverZ Cup down your region has blown up rather impressively. I would suggest re-aligning your goals...
Something to consider, is with the cost of buying a truck & maintaining/fueling/etc all year, is it cheaper overall to just rent a pickup for the couple times a year you need it? Either a van/pickup...
Honestly, even 3500 is gonna be tricky. My dad has a small 6x12 aluminum enclosed trailer that lists it at 1100lbs, so by the time you put a car & equipment in, you are gonna be right on that limit...
Agreed... we should absolutely let the class wither & die now for us current racers (then try to find a new place to run), because racers before us didn't fix it 30 years ago.
After some particularly hot & miserable Nationals we were around him at, I remember him saying it was a hard car to deal with. He looked beat.
I am not sure how much room you have, and I know you...
You ended up with Jonathans car, right?
Definitely check your caster... he ran a TON of it for a while. In the Vees, we change caster by shimming the beam.
We just stack 1/16" or 1/8" aluminum strips behind it.
As far as full range of motion, you have to also account for the spring twist once the car is on the ground. One beam I had an adjuster added...
Something to consider... if you simply lower the car by slamming the nose & having a lot of angle in the turkey legs, and not drop the rear of the car too (via actually raising the engine/trans with...
actually, 100LL AvGas is a different scale (Lean Mixture & Rich Mixture), that actually works out to about 115-130 on the automotive side (RON).
and don't forget the most basic thing I have seen people not do.... put whatever ballast you need in the nose.
without knowing where you come in vs. your minimum weight, this is the easiest thing...
Nah, they aren't illegal. I am surprised more people don't run them.
I bought a Pertronix unit after zinging my engine on a missed upshift thru the esses at Pitt. Ate a bearing because of it. Won't...
As another update on 4 bolt brakes....
We are testing a complete setup this weekend at Pittsburgh, using the 2 piston Wilwoods. I will have a write-up like Andy did next week.

We have to have parameters whether there are 100% off the shelf kits right now or not. What is costly about possibly having a couple rotors turned down some? If we lay out the groundwork for what a...
Gotcha... and the bold part is basically what I was thinking, since we may have a hard time getting a single kit p/n from companies. That is where I was coming from with my reply to Richard about...
