Turns out I won't be able to make it. Thanks for opening it up to CC cars.
Chris
Would I be allowed to run with the Challenge Cup wheels and tires? If I remember correctly that was allowed at Roebling Road.
Chris
I agree it's pointless to discuss the two tires if there is no testing data to compare the lap times. Remember CC is going to the 615K+ this year, which I think will be a good bit faster than the...
Are the tires open for discussion? I really don’t understand the reason to introduce a different wheel and tire package compared to the Challenge Cup. There’s already 30-40 people invested in...
Excellent news.
It will be at Roebling Road, correct?
There's been a decision where it will be and when, an announcement should be coming soon.
Finally another step in the right direction. FV can move up to the 1980's now instead of the 1950's. There's a reason car manufacturers stopped using drum brakes decades ago.
The initial cost will...
I don't know what a new one would cost, but probably around $25k is a good estimate.
I was including mounting and balancing in the tire cost.
I haven't run Hoosiers in a few years until this year...
I think it's highly inaccurate to list the cost of a FV at $26k. No new person is going to build a brand new car. You can get a great used car for $7-10k. Hoosiers are closer to $900 a set I thought....
That's my video above. Bill Styczynski's Vortech had a problem getting into 4th, which started the chain reaction. I thought I was past it, but Mike Landon in the white Wasp was hit and came across...
How do you add crew members to your registration?
For what it's worth, I've used Fram with no problems. But I only use the filter for 2 weekends and then replace. I also used to use Fram on my mk4 GTI with no problems.
For group 1, how many are SCCA FV and how many are vintage FV?
It's a simple question. What does SVRA require? An updated tether, updated SFI sticker, or both? I don't see any rules about it on the SVRA website.
Rick,
My HANS has a FIA sticker, as well as a SFI sticker from January 2012. I'm still confused on what the requirement is. Do I need a new SFI sticker, because my current sticker is now exactly 5...
Does SVRA require just the tether to be 5 years old or less, or does both the tether and the SFI certification sticker need to be 5 years old or less? My tether is from 2012 and the SFI manufacture...
How do you see the current entry list?
I know a few Vee guys in England. It looks like their 50th should be next year, might be another to consider.
If I'm reading it correctly, all SCCA open wheel classes are invited? If so, my FV will be there.
Seems to me like some people would attend this and not the runoffs, because this is one weekend...
I think the idea that FV can attract karting kids is pretty unrealistic. Why would they want a car with 60 year old parts and that is slower than a kart? We need to attract the hobbyist type who will...
I agree with Mark, buying or renting a FV for next year is your best bet. Mark's son has a great Citation for sale, just drop a motor in it and go. You have a better chance of racing your FST on Mars...
My car had zero understeer at Mid-Ohio. Maybe you should buy a Womer:ha:
I don't see a one day registration on their supps. I have to work Saturday. Maybe in the spring though, looks like a fun weekend. I used to run TT's and hillclimbs in PA when I was first getting my...
Where are you running this weekend?
This would be a great story for SCCA to use as marketing material to get people interested in FV. It shows FV is one of about 5 relevant classes at the runoffs anymore.
Going to be a great weekend.
Paul, I've run my car with those holes open for a couple years. It's not going to flood your engine by any means.
I registered as challenge cup and I only show up in group 7 as challenge cup, although I should also be in group 2. Challenge cup was a separate choice on the bottom of the registration.
Welcome to the club! My tow setup is pretty similar to your's. Only 21-24 mpg though. I was looking at the registration for Barber on August 27-28 and there is a FV registered for the TT on Sunday,...
For everyone that is interested in some southeast challenge cup races, send me or Dean or Ray a private message with your email. We'll get you added onto the email distribution for the challenge cup...
I'm in for a southeast version of the challenge cup! I live a lot closer to most southeast tracks now. Maybe we can have a north vs south battle at the ARRC some time:D ?
The reason we created the Challenge Cup series was to mimic the success and pros of the Canadian F1200 series. Think about what the F1200 series is; a local series with very good competition and...
Great weekend of racing and great parties both nights. I agree with everyone else, everyone should be attending these weekends if they're not serious runoffs contenders. It's the way FV races should...
I drained my transmission fluid today and this was stuck to the magnetic drain pan. What is it and is it a big deal that it's no longer inside the transmission?
Thanks,
Chris

What are the three TT events you're planning on? I'm new to the area (sort of, I'm in Owensboro, KY), so I'd like to find some events that aren't a 12 hr drive back to the northeast.
Chris
Where's next year's schedule?? I want to race again.
Thunderbolt. There is a track map on the website.
Brian, I don't see your name on this list? The first part of being competitive is actually showing up to races. Why don't you go bury your head in the sand and let us have fun in our series with our...
Haha this is such a fun series. Thanks for the support Greg.
I'm bummed I can't make it and try to challenge Matt for the championship.
The Falkens are the best choice. Period. Why do we need to to repeating this same topic?
I'm planning on going to Beaverun
I'm going to run the Falkens wherever I go. Absolutely no Majors but I may run a regional at Mid-Ohio and the ARRC this year (in addition to the challenge cup races).
Chris
I'll be there.
They're the Azenis that the Canadian's use in F1200. We've adopted them for a "Can/Am"series this year. Here's the website.
http://challengecupseries.com
I have one spare wheel/tire that someone can use for the weekend.
Switching to the Falkens and single class racing are the two reasons that brought me back out after taking 2014 off. I'm thrilled to not have to buy tires again until spring 2017.
Is there a test day on the Friday before Shannonville? Where can I find the info for it?
Chris
I'm in. Getting my tires tomorrow from Dean.
Chris
What are some recommended hotels near the track?
