Can you give an idea what you would charge to scan a typical upright and furnish it in a common 3D format?

Just on the off chance, looking for a carbir with front crash damage. The more the better. Backed mine into the wall at the kink, but front of the car is good. Long shot I know, but can't hurt to...
Front end looks like 35-40 ford. Wishbones are split Ford, Looks like Ford backing plates, steering arms look like early Ford also.
Motor looks to be the 240/300 cu in six found in cars and trucks....
The input shaft bearing is different. Smaller bore in case with 4 bolt main bearing.

They were going up the hill at the bridge when it went over. Only up to about 140 and accelerating at that point.
Jim got too close to the back of Kurt and lost the air off the front of the car....
Looks home made to me.

Yes, it is Lola. No, it is not offset to clear steering column. It is offset to the right to get foot over to gas and clear clutch pedal. The foot pad has been installed the wrong direction. Early...
It has been my experience that the nuts are tighter when everything is hot, and therefore easier to loosen after cooling down. This is on my Lola T163 which uses mag wheels with steel stubs and nuts....
As you are changing rake, be it front or rear, do you reset camber each time, or just let it change?
john f
For that clearance I would first try Green Bearing Loctite. If that doesn't work I would bore and sleeve it. Just my $0.02.

Three ideas. If you have enough spline length on the clutch end, just shorten the input shaft by the amount needed.
If there is enough spline engagement with the 10.38" shaft, extend the pilot...
Call the track right now, but I doubt that there will be any camping available at the track any more. The track is in a state park and you have to reserve camping spaces. I would start looking for...
Fair enough. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I mainly was getting at the low yield strength and high cost of stainless vs using a pc of stress proof or pre-hard. Unless it was left over from something else and was used to cut cost. Just...
Why would you use 304 for a Z bar??? Low yield strength. Just wondering.

You measure over "x" number of roller pitches. If chain pitch is .5 inches and the roller dia is .4" you put 6 rollers inside the caliper the length should be 2.9" (5 chain pitches plus one roller...
A dial caliper would do the same thing.

Looks to me like the type 3 setup was added later. You can see other holes next to the VW bolts. My guess is a low volume US builder because of the open casting on the back side. Any english casting...
A true "work or art".

Quote: " I've recently completed re-assembling the car after it sat for many years after a wreck."
350 lb-ft sounds fine. I would look very close at the flatness of both the wheel and axle flange....
If you need help, or machining, give me a call.

How hard can it be? If somebody made it, you should be able to handle it. Just my $0.02.

I would figure out why the difference in tension. Either a sprocket has some runout in it or the chain has a variation in pitch length causing the difference. I would fix that before setting. Just my...
Have you tried adding an oil pump to feed the R&P? The pump should add some life to the R&P as I "assume" when you say the R&P lets go you are saying it is wearing out, not sudden failure. Just my...

Google "urethane die springs" . 3/8 id x 1 1/8 odis a common size. Available in many lengths or stock tubes. Works great for
all different bushing applications. Just my $0.02.
john f
The INNER cable ends are also slipped over the INNER cable and crimped. I'm talking about those slipping making what he describes happen. Agree it is time to replace.
john f
The ends are slipped over the cable and then crimped. I would bet that one or both ends were not crimped proper and have slipped. replace it b4 one of the ends falls off. Just my $0.02

I would say that if both sets of gears are the same diameter, the wider set will be the scavenge side and the narrower the pressure.
With that said, I am Assuming that neither stage has a pressure...
You ran in the group with me. Very nice looking car. Too bad they had you in that group, not really a match for F1 cars

Was ther ever an I or J mod in SCCA ?
john f
Did the 6 speed have a reverse or was that where the sixth gear came from?
john f
Make it out of 4140 pre-hard. It's around 30 Rc and machines great. Just my $0.02

dirt cheap, too
Go to Walmart and buy a gallon of Super Clean. I have used this to remove cosmoline on 50 yr old NOS master cylinders. It will work on your oil tank. Another good way is to put a handful of pea...
Heat it with a propane torch. It will sweat oil.

Bearing should be oilite. Never hone, ream to size. Too much better than too little. Standard bronze fitting is .001" to.0015" per 1" dia. You could go .003 - .005 per inch with no problems. Make...
Some where on a straight section that you can get at:
1) cut the tube in half
2) fit a pc of solid the same size as ID
3) weld into one half and clamp other side with a 2 pc shaft collar over OD...
A good media blast is what is needed to keep it on. A lot of coaters just burn the item to be coated or do a wash but no mechanical roughing. The roughing is what any coating is held on by. My $0.02....
Talk to your local powder coater. Most can apply the same mat'l. The prep is what makes it stay on and last. Just my $0.02.

Whether you are using a drag link set up , the original VW set up, or the "Womer" set up, your akerman is developed the same way. Front steer requires the steering out further than the king pin. Rear...
If the clearance is less than about .005, 680 or 601 loctite will work very well. Other fix is to bore out and fit steel sleeve. Staking may tighten it up at assembly, but it will loosen up...
Do not mix up an increase in tensile or yield strength as an increase in stiffness. Stiffness is a function of modulus of elasticity (rigidity) or dimensions. The modulus for steel is the same...
While you're looking, I'd be interested in HU 16. Ran it in the mid 80's and I think it went to Michigan.

Be careful for what you ask!

If you think it is chain stretch, remove the chain after each event and measure the length!
You will either verify that it is chain stretch ( which most people would say it is) or you can start...
I run a Tiga SC84. Originally, the car did not come with an oil cooler. I run one scavenge section through an oil cooler and the other scavenge directly to the oil tank. I use -8 lines on everything...
toll fees (for you poor sods in Wisconsin and Illinois :D
Wisconsin has NO toll roads.

I feel that in vintage you are driving your trophy. It realy makes no difference where you finish if you are having fun. The moment you start acknowledging finishing place, be it by a victory lap,...
