Lug nuts are 56 degree. I am waiting for my neighbor to grind my 45 degree cutter into 56. He did a great job making 60 degree lug nuts into 56's.

Got inserts drilled and good fit on lug studs. Then found that rim hits caliper inside and outside edges. This rim did not have the same machining as the other ones. I was able to mount it on my...
I got the inserts welded and back in the rim. Tomorrow to the tire guy for removal. I may need this wheel to work with the rain back on for this coming wkend.
Mark
I need a couple more rims so thanks for that. I will ck to see if there will be enough metal to move the holes. Thanks again.
Mark
Several yrs ago I bought a FF panasport wheel from someone on this forum. I finally tried it today (w/ a rain tire on it) and it didn't fit. Turns out it has 4 in on center lug bolt holes(instead...
Thanks, Dan. My local FF mechanic said not a problem so save the money.

My sensor is at the outlet from the bottom of the oil reservoir and occasionally it gets up to 210, but this is usually accompanied by high water temp and I can't do anything about that except add a...
When I run here in the San Diego/LA area, and the weather is extra warm, I get my oil temp up pretty high. I was thinking I could set up an oil cooler with a bipass valve(or 2) for when I don't need...
Blew another set of points wk ago. This time I gave up on the grommet. Even soap did not help. I just used some hard set gasket sealer. It seems to have worked. Yeah!
Mark
Thanks for all the input. Mechanic was trying to get the car back to me to drive it. I will talk to him for the next time. I do not have a press, so nee his help.
My mechanic said he didn't have time to change the inner CV joints on my 90 Van Diemen because they were too stuck. Anyone else run into this problem and have a solution?
Mark
Ok, I am finally down to one very small oil leak. In the process I found out that CV joints need occasional care, more often than my efforts(so, who knew grease drys out after 4+ yrs), so add CV...
Ditch for what?
Does anyone have a trick for getting the rubber wire grommet through the distributor body? Spent 45 min trying yesterday and never got it right.
Mark.
Ok, I had trouble finding this thread again. Last Sun I drove w/ the adjusted Ackerman. The effect was subtle, but in runs 2 and 3 I took out a slalom cone, something I seldom do. I corrected on...
I got 1225 runs on a motor of unknown previous use. Even at that #, it was probably my fault it grenaded. If you do rebuild before catastrophic fail, it is a lot cheaper.
And, "bump steer" is?
Finally got an explanation of Ackerman, from Eric Clements, at the Crows Tour. Turns out my car was still set up for road racing. It only took about 45 min to reverse the brackets on the outboard...
Have not used the scales again, but Nationals had the same units at the Crows Tour and they were not very well received. Seems that they weighed a bit on the light side(even compared to mine) and...
Scales arrived today so I put them to work. I made leveling pads and ramps for the front at the low end of the garage. The instructions said jack up the car and slide the pads under the wheels, so...
They make some really good plastic these days.:p

Ok, spending my tax refund. i ordered a set. The low reviews were from 3 yrs ago. Will report.
Mark
For starters, 70% of cost. Smaller so probably lighter. Come w/ a bag.
Mark
Anyone tried these for a FF or heard anything? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Proform-67650-Vehicle-Scale-System-/111602275414
Mark
I'm w/ Andy. Mine was about that much off and the professional alignment people did not touch it. Car has been in action 4 yrs w/o a fix.
Mark
Jim,
Seat time is good and yes, the purple crack is lots of fun. Warms up in 2 or 3 turns.
Mark
CM got a major break.

Saw the post on FB and that reminded me of the list. Here are some updates I have picked up since I moved to San Diego. Jeff Lonsdale #56, 67 Solo Vee: David Boles now has the Drouin Van Diemen in...
I got it. I now do 25 lb on 2 corners and the other 2 tied to my trailer(700lb).
Mark
I also disagree re tire change for FF!
The info about numbers of cars made by the manufacturers is most likely correct. Cars from most any 80's to mid 90's work for autoX, later ones evolved for...
I found that the 2nd start switch I installed in the back would start the warm motor w/o help from a 2nd battery, so I added another wire from the front starter switch to the solenoid and it worked....
It did cost me about $100 to sort out the tire problem. Darn.
I noticed that all competitors in CM at Nationals used Hoosier tires. Can't just be the contingencies.
Mark
Got a new lower leg in 3 days. Next event I will add another strap from the middle to something really heavy.
Mark
Still hoping to solve start problem. After 12 runs, the onboard battery started the cold car on Tues just fine. Someone must know what is going on here.
Mark
New popup did not fare well on its first outing. A brief up lift picked it and 3 10lb sand bags up and turned it over. One lower leg broke off(where it was tied to the trailer):( The rest of it...
Starter rebuild did not solve my warm start problem. Darn. In other news, the car and driver worked very well. https://youtu.be/7lImPGI2qBE
Mark
Several people said I might have a Toyota starter, or one might be a fit. Mine is a Bosch.
Sure hope this solves my "no start when warm" problem.
Mark
The rebuilt starter seems very strong on a cold and slightly warm motor.
Mark
Ouch!
Had my FF starter rebuilt. If yours is not on the list of things to take care of, add it, cause it is on the list of "soon to fail". I caught mine before it reached the top of the list. The...
Got my Eurmax this morning. What a major upgrade from the cheap Caravan model. I am pleased.
Mark
I hook the other side to the race car or sandbags.
Mark
Eurmax it is. Good price, free shipping, alum and extra thick canvas material in my color. Thank you.
Mark
Ok, Ted. I usually connect one side to my trailer.
Rus, I looked at EZ Ups and they are really nice, at about double the cost of the cheaper 10x15's. I haven't rolled it out.
Mark
I have already given it more thought. If I could find a co driver from this area, I could make it work. Lots of time to set that up. I am getting too old for the 28 hr straight through drive alone....
Just repaired my cheap 10x10 popup for the, maybe, 4th time. Looking for a replacement 10x15 and found that the "heavy duty" models are 80lb or more. My current unit is 27 lb. What are the rest of...
Looks like seat time is working for you. I noticed braking smoke from your front tires. If you don't also get it from the rears, you may need to adjust brake bias to the rear. I did it 5 times in...
Maybe, if I run out of things to do being retired and need some excitement.
Mark
Some stiff competition here. Going to be a challenge just to get a trophy. Have fun you all.
