I don't remember what caster I had on my old lynx. but it was very close to 5 degrees, it was pretty competitive !
How about an actual caster number from someone out there?
This class sounds pretty good to me!
I wonder if there will be any attempt to equalize the performance of these classesu as to provide some great racung in one or two classes! It seems to me that...

Thanks guys for the many comments, in particular my forgetting to include FE2!
My only goal is to help OW racing in the SCCA survive and prosper. I know that many of you are thinking that...
John I have tried to make myself clear but i have obviously not done that so here is 1 last try but first my goal is very simple and that goal is to increase OW ENTRIES. MY APOLOGIES FOR NOT...
Ok perha I have made it easy to misunderstand my position so let me try again.
My goal is to reduce costs to compete in 3 main open wheel classes and nothiñg else. It is not my intent to...
Iets get real. I personally love OW Racing the most but the reality is that the entry numbers are way down in the last decade or more! Figure out how to fix this!
Imo there shoulld be a max of 3...
Where you put your ballast and what do you want your weight distribution to be? Are very interrelated This is an important tuning tool!
Actually the 494 was originally required to use a specific lower hp rotary valve but this is no
Longer required now that the 600 2 strokes and 4 strokes can run together. I suspect that it is not...
Nothing is easier than using all the production bits . Why try to reinvent the wheel?

While i am not a fan of Stans position i think that it may be the best future for FB. IMO THOUGH 1000CC ENGINES will not ever cut the mustard in IMO. PERHAPS bigger MC engines at higher weights...
The phantoms were very nice race cars imo
Post a picture. Did yôu get a log book with the car? If so the roll bar specs will be in the log book!
If itbis a very old v 73" wheelbase car you may have tp change the roll bars if they are the early apec rules 8f v the roll bars are 1..25" diameter they will have to be changed to 1.375 diameter....
The engineering drawings are now completed and ready for review with the builder hopefully construction will start soon
More info in a week or so
Pretty soon the FB community will have to make a decision about what the future of F1000 needs to be! If this is not done then the CRB will be happy to make the decision for you so someone will have...
I have been giving this a lot of thought and imo the only thing that will save this class is some variation on the following:
1. Tidy up the rules to slighty modify the current combination of...
Great concept Stan, perhap we can get the best of both worlds!
FA, get the best if both worlds
A. Allow Fa Cars with FA chassis to run fully prepped MC engines up to 1450cc at some...
Do you think that the FC community would accept this? I do not.
The answer imo Stan, are inlet restrictirs that knock 3 to 5 secons a lap off the unrestricted lap time !this is technically easy and the last FB ad hoc committee had just about got there but...
The 2nd and last FB ad hoc committee was very very close to having a well defined very low cost inlet restrictor plan that would have worked on nearly every 1000cc 4 cylinder motorcycle engine but...

True Tom you went right to the crb but they were not interested in your letter however if you can get the FSRAC on your side this a very big help IMO! Making the engines equal in performance is not...
Yes it was all stock block engines however the factories were in full competitive development mode with each manufac manufacturer doing a new motor every year and we could not keep up with that...
Costs drove us out but we loved it imo engine development costs were too much for our budget but there were other factors too. Loved the class, still do!
I am all for seriously restricted engine...
I am very impressed with the aero package on this car. Comments?
I think that Hulings Racing Products has them.
Looks very innovative! I like it.
I am very impressed with the aero package.
I am curious about the speed of the current FM cars, can thet get any faster?
I would very much like to be wrong Stan Clayton.
I HAVE FOUND THAT SENDING LETTERS TO THE FSRAC IS MORE EFFECTIVE THAN WHEN YOU SEND YOUR LETTERS DIRECTLY TO THE CRB
Here is a link....
The CRB has made their decision and that decision will not change imo.
The above letter by Tom Copeland is the only chance for the future of this great class. We will never get the required entry numbers racing as the slowpoke little Atlantics and they do not want us...
We dont needvthe Stig the class has several great drivers.
My question ís.
Who is going to optimize all òf the many different variables on each of the 2 stroke engines? The key word is...
It is my opinion that we need 2 separate Classes.
1. Create a 2 stroke only class for the 500cc and the 600 cc motors equalize performances as needed with weight and engine rules.
2. Create...
What a very interesting discussion.
I have personally torsionally tested at least 50 different cars and the lowest number i have ever seen was a vee that twisted at 900 ft-lb/deg. I have also...
Sorry for the delay getting close to 80 and slowing down the design is 98% done!
I am not stating that what we built had an advantage. It is my opinion that the rear tire desigñ is simply optimized for the existing rear susp design, so i think that if new tires were developed...
I and another builder built a vee with adjustable rear roll stifness and adjustable rear rc height
There may be zero roll stiffness on a zero roll FVee. However there sre still lateral forces involved going through the axle tubes and the engine transmission frame structure!, thus there can and...
Add lateral bending loads Daryl.
We have used multiple different types of materials but the focus on our ststem has always been on the actuation geometry and not on the durometer. The material that we have used for quite some time...
I am just finishing up the design of a new f5/6 that is a major reduction in costs and will be faster than the current blade. I am focusing on the design while the actual car builds and sales will...
The engine bay doesn't look as structurally sound as the front of the chassis?
Is someone building cars?
Stan are the weights and the engine build requirements the same for the different engine sizes?
More pics please w/o body please
If you take the rack apart at the center you will see that the rack and pinion bits are just sightly modified commercially parts available at that time. Clearance is adjustable with feeler gage...
This is a perfect example of how variable the 2 strokes can be.
This comment is not intended to belittle his lap record at all. He did it and it was simply an amazing lap!
You are correct sir. However there are many ways to make the 494 or the 493 engines competitive with the 593 engine!
