Not really. The restrictor applies to all permitted engines. The permitted engines are in the table. My answer would have been easier to understand if I had included "permitted".
Dave
All P1 1600cc 4-cycle engines are restricted by requiring 40mm chokes.
Yes for ASR. ASR is a regional-only class.
I don't know enough about the Wolf to answer any of your other questions....
In the sports racer forum, that case was made. My response was that the drivers in those events (e.g., Daytona 24 Hour) are professionals who deal with the size mismatch on a regular basis. Here,...
Fred:
Could you explain why you believe that?
Thanks,
Dave
Please see my posting in the sports racer forum. The CRB is recommending that PX cars run with Big Bore sedans at Super Tours and Majors. This is an invitation to disaster. If you agree, write to the...
The rules for all classes are in the SCCA GCR: https://www.scca.com/downloads/42167-gcr-september-2018
The F1000 rules start on page 274.

It is back up this morning.

If you are planning to use it in SCCA races, don't. It will not pass the lab tests.

ATL, Fuel Safe and others that use FIA certification are automatically approved since they meet the requirements of 9.3.27. The list of alternate suppliers (currently just Eagle) is for those who...
If you are having a cell made for a car running in SCCA, you must have a cell that is FiA approved or made by an approved supplier (see GCR 9.3.27). The list of approved suppliers is at...
For the record, the letter that Stan Clayton and I wrote to the CRB did not request that current F1000 engines be restricted. We suggested that newer engines (e.g., the 195 hp ZX10R) be restricted to...
Since you said you need a new logbook, that (probably) means the car is new or was never previously registered with SCCA. In either case, the inspection for a new logbook is even more thorough than...
That's clearly your choice to make - if the Club or the Pro Series chooses to try to equalize engines (short or long term).
If they don't do anything, you get an advantage until everyone catches...
Any decent machine shop (or someone with the appropriate tools in their shop). They don't have to be made by a single source; just meet the specs: all air through the specified orifice size, .060"...
Jon:
Essentially you are proposing to use weight to temporarily equalize performance of newer and older engines. There is no reason you can't do the same thing using IIRs. When there are "enough"...
The intrusion panel requirements have been in place for FF and FC since 1986. The same requirements have been in place for FV "forever" and in FB since its inception. The only thing that is changing...
Anti-intrusion panels are already required in FB - see 9.1.1.H.2.C.
What the new rule does is to permit a third option for intrusion panel construction. This also applies to FF, FC, FM, FV and...
It is rare that inspections of the sort you are asking about are done at a regular season race due primarily to time and cost constraints. Disassembly is usually limited to the Runoffs top...
Some of our top motorcycle engine builders got together and agreed on the most critical things to check in these engines. Since the almost universal engine at this time is the Suzuki GSXR-1000, they...
This rule change has not yet gone to the BoD. It will be sent to them for their October meeting. (The prior rule change - barring electronically assisted shifters entirely - was discussed with the...

Of course, this series is free to set its own rules, but anything you do that prevents the "Pro" cars from also competing in SCCA Nationals is counterproductive for both your series and Club Racing....
I will respond to this part of your post only. If you will note, this was a request for input. It is not yet (and might never be) the basis for a proposed rule change. Depending on member input, a...
Please think about this a bit more. 1) How would you write a rule that draws a bright line between what could be done with discrete component electronics as opposed to "obvious" microprocessors? 2)...
Mike:
Please explain how that would be enforced. The advisory committee considered a choice like the one you have proposed, but rejected it because of the inability to enforce it.

In the December Fastrack (http://www.scca.com/documents/Fastrack/10/10-fastrack-dec.pdf), in the middle of page 34, you will find a "What Do You Think" item addressed to the FB community. Please read...
Although this probably doesn't apply to an FB car, if you aren't aware of this, you may need to take it into consideration:
9.3.28. FUEL, OIL, AND WATER LINES
All fuel, oil, and water lines,...
The CoA does not write rules nor modify them. Only the CRB (and occasionally the BoD) does that.
That was in the context of the CoA FA decision. My advice was that Tech not pursue the issue on...
CoA decisions are binding only until the end of the year in which they are issued.
Thank you for your vote of confidence.
Thank you for mis-representing what I said. (This was, by the way, at the...
He didn't "find a way". The 016 chassis is homologated in FA (and CSR). An owner has two options in FA: 1) run it in the Pro Spec form with the modifications allowed on page 179 (of the...
I passed bad info to Stan: Niki, Bill McLaughlin, Brandon. Results for everything but FA/FM are on the SCCA web site now. (As I was leaving the track, I heard there were several pieces of paper that...

At the risk of sounding like a scold, please read the GCR 9.3.26.A. Also, if you have the October, 2009 SportsCar, read the article on page 52 (at least I think it was page 52).
We cannot make a...
For those of you FM drivers planning to go to the 2010 Runoffs, here is question. Which would you prefer, A: three 25 minute qualifying sessions shared with another class (probably FE) or B: three 20...
I've used an AFAN front sprocket on my DSR for years. No sign of unusual wear.
Coop is right. Your chain is probably 78 (maybe 80). If you expect to be doing this for any length of time, you might...

First, the Restricted National provision is not exactly new (it has been in the GCR since 2007).
Second, to quote:
3.1.4. Restricted Nationals
Restricted Nationals are experimental events...

John:
I don't want to spoil the party (in fact, I'm going to try to get over there at some point), but the CRB is going to have a Town Hall meeting at the region-hosted social (beer party) at the...
It gets a bit old answering the same questions over and over. Please see post #6 in this thread (first page).

George:
First, I'm not shooting (at) the messenger - I'd never do that, particularly to you.
Second, if he meant that there are "non-smelly" fuels that are as dangerous as SOME smelly race...
Let me add some information to what George has posted. Yesterday, someone on the Spec Racer forum raised some questions about the 100 octane unleaded fuel at Virginia International Raceway. I talked...
I am using sprockets from http://www.rebelgears.com/index.html
For "insurance" purposes, I bought two of each size I thought I would need. I have yet to go to the second set for either of the...
The entire topic of fuels is quite complex. For 2010, in addition to DC testing, there will be a new (expanded) list of prohibited substances and a mechanism for testing for those substances. (The...
