I have always assumed that Jack Knight supplied most of the British race car manufacturers over the 70s-90s era (maybe longer). Certainly was supplying VD when your Lola was produced.

I may be a bit confused about your post. On my sports racer, all I did was use a simple pressure-activated switch, mounted between the caliper and the brake line banjo fitting. Took 5 mins to...
Stick on. Instead of duct tape over them, I use that chrome exhaust tape as it seems to be more compliant and stick better overall.

I rang him up when I was restoring my 492. He wanted to know if I wanted the body made as per the factory, lightweight or "see through" :)
The quality was beyond reproach. You paid for it, but...
I've been driving largely Formula Fords (plus a sports car and some vintage stuff occasionally) since 1986. One would think I would be better at it by now.....
A friend of mine's likely...
1. Buy a little more truck and trailer than you need right now
2. Sleeping in a tent, in the pouring rain, doesn't make you well-rested for the next day's sessions. Figure out...
I don't think it has been mentioned on this thread, but a beavertail rear floor sure makes your life a lot easier. And a heavy duty single sheet vinyl floor (if you want to keep the weight down vs....
He won't fall off the face of the earth. He's the kind of guy that will get "pushed".....

There is at least one track I know of where you need to be extremely careful with things like generators etc - local thieves look at the track stuff as easy pickings. Everything needs to be put away...
I've raced lots of FF, vintage, and and an old S2000 (Lola 492, which I love). A couple of thoughts:
1. Size, storage and accessibility. Plenty of closed wheel cars like my S2000 have body...

Recently, the only available pump gas in Ontario w/o ethanol (Shell V-Power) quietly started adding ethanol. The pump now reads "All gas may contain ethanol" across all varieties. I would...
You can manufacture the part, but say it would be very hard to do. I equate that with an expensive part to produce, yet you feel the current manufacturers/suppliers are too expensive.
When it...
Dayle, I didn't ask a safety question. I asked if existing drivers had been given a chance to give their input into determining whether/how EVs are to be integrated into pre-existing classes in the...
(For the record, I'll declare right up front that I am anti EV in general, so I have a bias that won't be ovecome with persuasion. Or logic for that matter, s olets not argue about it. And I gave...

Ask the engine builder if possible, as he knows what's gone into the engine in terms of bits. I would think that a high end billet crank, rods, forged pistons, steel main caps, plus decent hardware...
Be still, my beating heart!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But, painting the monocoque (it is ally, right?)? Ugh.

You might be able to sneak up on an old club level Formula Mazda on the upper end of that price range. Fat tires, wings, stout chassis, can run it in VARAC, reliable drivetrain. Carbureted though...
I don't mean to be a jerk (some say it comes naturally to me) but having just navigated OSRacer's website, my observations are as follows:
- They have not built a single car yet. If they had,...
I think posts like these are great. We all deserve to know who we are dealing with, and as long as facts are presented fairly, well then it is valuable information as far as I am concerned......

I got a guy re the CNC. He's in Canada, Trenton, Ontario to be exact, and his name is Ron Rogers. Retired aerospace fabricator, builds everything from uprights to new monocoques.
He's as good as...
Folks, somewhere over the last 5-7 years, I swear I saw a sports racer for sale here based on a converted Lola 540 chassis where there was a new spare chassis also listed for sale. But I can't seem...
Exactly Tim. Which is why I sold the March, and went back to FF!!! I can afford to both race as hard as I can AND repair it when ! run out of talent.

A few years back, I restored a March 78B. It was a ball to drive. And then, after a few events, I started thinking that, since I am pushing harder and harder each event, at some point in time I am...

Look harder! I struggled to sell my 1996 Dodge Ram shortbox crew cab (6 speed, Cummins, about 90,000 miles, totally rust free, never hit or painted, blah blah blah) for C$14,000 2 years ago. Yeah...
I would be checking the nut and stub axle for wear, they should spin on/off by hand basically, once the tension is off them. If you think its tough to get the nut off now, wait to you lube the stub...
Sorry about that. It’s REALLY empty now????. And I managed, after a pretty rough day, to get your name wrong in my earlier PM. Cripes. Maybe it’s because I have spent 20+ hours on my...
Depends on the bolt, and to a lesser extent, the hardware.
When I restored my March 78B, I had ARP make the stub axles for a 3/4" fine thread, with ARP nuts (a bunch they had left over from an...
Is it possible to give multiple likes on a posting?????

Dan, you've done exactly what I have done, so many times. Is it faulty DNA?;)

I owned GS's Merlyn FB car for a while a few years ago. It was one of only 3 I "think" (I am no Merlyn expert!), and i believe Scheckter still owns his. It was a large pile of decent parts that i...

I would have thought you should be able to pull the gearbox only, leaving the motor in place.

I met Mr. Redman at Mosport last year at the VARAC GP, had him sign his book. If folks have NOT read it, i can say it is exceptionally well done in his own words, and the many of the pics are his...
If you intend on keeping and racing the car for a while (years!), you could go to your local welding supply store and buy or lease a small tank. It will last a long time, but it will always be in...

I kept my 492 tub in our rec room for 5-6 years (brought it in sideways, through the door) until we moved houses. We decided over wine one night that we wanted a pool table in the rec room, but...
