I recently bent both of the spindles on my Mysterian. Fun. I haven't been able to source replacements with the matching modified tie rod attachments so I am going to modify two stock VW spindles I...
Not sure if they are the same wheel, they are made by Diamond. I torque to 60 ft-lb. Next year I am moving to the new wheels and tires that everyone else is using. More speeeeeed!!!!
Thanks! The heavier Challenge Cup wheels and tires amplify this issue so I am going to give the studs a try. My backing plates don't have holes in them for brake adjustment with the wheels on so...
I am tired of dealing with these lug "bolts" on my Vee. Who thought those were a good idea? I would like to convert to wheel studs. Seems there are many options. Has anyone found the standard...
Jeff, I love a good mystery. If your present theory is wind...can you test this with a fan? Run the car and blow some wind up her tailpipe and see if the reading changes? Also any idea what the...
Well my first vee race with my Mysterian at Mid Ohio is in the books and it was a mixed bag. One of the most interesting parts of the weekend was making major changes to the rear camber on the car. ...
Thanks everyone! This is exactly what I needed! Two weeks till Mid-Ohio, I can't wait.
Cheers,
Nate
I am getting ready for my first event in a vee at the end of the month. With my other cars I have checklists for the week before the race and for between sessions. Some of the items are things...
When you increase caster you effect the camber on the wheels when turning don't you? You effectively add negative camber to the outside wheel....this should help turn in. At a cost of increased...
I have nothing technical to add to this great discussion...yet. Someday I hope to. For right now I am thankful that y'all are willing to share your knowledge...and entertain me :) Mid-Ohio, end of...
I agree...this looks like an elegant solution. I might borrow it. Thanks for sharing.
What do you use for limiters? The horns are still on my beam can you utilize those?
Caster...hmmm...this is wonderfully complicated. Caster seems to be set by the angle that the beam mounts to the frame itself. I guess you could shim the beam?
Great posts on the geometry of...
Fuel threads can end up like oil threads....:) Seems like the compression ratio in these motors is relatively low. What is the justification for such high octane? Maybe timing? Dunno...I am a...
New to formula vee. I am installing an adjuster on by protoform p2 because I want to. What is a goal for ride height and do you run rake? Are there any specific guidelines about the turkey leg...
Me..."Have no clue..."...haha...true enough. I have never even driven the car...I am rebuilding a protoform and am shopping for the first set of shocks. I have a lot of time racing tin tops and...
Thanks! That is the kind of info I am looking for. No point in trying to do something that can't be done. I have a Penske rear so looking for a front solution. I am in this for the build and the...
Has anyone recently tried the QA1 82 series shocks on a formula vee?
https://www.qa1.net/circle-track/suspension1/shocks/82-series-shocks
They sell a tuning kit which allows for re-valving. ...
Which compound are you using? Looks like there is a R-4 and a RD-4. I am about to order some...thanks!
