I must give Kudos to Keith as well. He has helped me on my 1991 VD FC on several projects:

I built a 200 hp Pinto for my FC. Purchased cam kit, intake manifold, etc... from Burton Power.
Absolutely no issues. Good service. Just takes long time to get across the big pond.

Had Pertronix failures myself. Ran points for several races (1991 VD FC - 200 hp Pinto).
Started getting high rpm miss I could not figure out. Installed XR700. Ran one race weekend with it and...

Hmm....

I would run that CV all day long.

Yes the Pegasus CV joints will work. They do have the TDI lightened version (that is what I run on my 1991 VD FC).

Great racing on the video!

Looks to me like guard rails have been moved WAY back from the track from the early 90's! Turn 1 guard rail I remember was only foot or 2 off the exit of turn 1! And...

Another option outside SCCA is the COMMA series at Hallett. COMMA series is much lower cost and much more track time. Is a "run what you brung" type series where all winged formula cars are classed...

Never Autocrossed them, but I spent a LOT of time racing '85,'88, and '91 VD. All great cars. '88 worked great on street tires, not so much on slicks. My opinion. Go with a car that has pushrod...

Had the same problem on pinto FC. Cure was I ditched the pertronix and went to points. This was after new battery, plugs, wires, caps,,,,,,,,,,,,

Once I switched to points, no more problems. ...

Absolutely have them ceramic coated. :thumbsup:

I used to own a coating shop. I did back to back temp testing on coated headers vs non coated. Can see up to 50% reduction in the header temp...

I have to say that I reccomend the "take the carb off and send it to Ivey, Quicksilver, etc...." I have spent a LOT of time chasing down the same issue that you have on FF and FC cars. ...

I must say that I have used ceramic coated heades for years and owned a ceramic/powder coating shop several years ago. (have since moved onto other opportunities)). Ceramic coating works very well...

Just put a wrench on it and check it is tight.

In Europe, FF's at least the and RF88 VD, came with oil-water coolers. I uninstalled it and also never ran a traditional air-oil cooler on the car.

I really doubt that FF's need oil...
