Am I still included our does Doug get my seat at the :beer:cooler??:)
No need to spend the money on balancing for an auto-x application. Save it for the beer fund.
I'll chime in by only saying he has the most highly developed car in the whole CM class. Other than heat in TX I'd have no concerns.
Expect a 0-60 off the lights if the straight is long enough...
Dallas Steering Wheel- I have had them do high quality street car work at reasonable prices w/ quick turnaround.

Doug,
I previously used both an MSD and Pertronix rev limiters in the car. MSD soft-touch I never had any issue w/ in my old Reynard and it lasted for a while in the DB-1, the Pertonix wouldn't...
Officially it will be part of the new majors program and one of six SCCA BFGoodrich Super Tour events on the 2013 calendar.
As to if it is a double good question, I can get clarity from Topeka...
There goes the neighborhood. Bad move by the MAC & SEB to lose the GCR rules foundation.
David,
You must have gotten a cut and damaged the tire somewhere along the line. I have never had cord show on any tire in 15 years of running CM, including tires w/ a similar number of runs to...
I would say 99.9% :D
A 91 VD will not have an original design Cortina motor. The uprated motor is still referred to as a Cortina GT or Kent in different circles. The cylinder head is completely different on the engines...
Ahhh...unless your carb is built and tuned to your engine/head/intake combo where bye jets are much easier than having a second dyno tuned carb. Fact of the matter is that once tuned the Weber carb...
Last report Stu's car was still sitting in Tommy's garage, but that was a couple years ago. I had added Gregg's car to my list too.
Folks should remember back in the late 90's we were...
The Saunders/Richardson Van Diemen is living in Chicago owned by the Fortini's and has been in the process of a ground-up, which has been sidetracked by life and kids karting. Ross lurks on this...
If you could have a dog leg 1st, ala an older Porshce, it might work, but w/ an integral first gear that is not an option. If you go w/ a slide on first in the location of second you'll be too tall...
That 1-3 shift would kill you, much better off having the more natural & instinctive 2-3 and subsequent 3-2 downshift.
Disappointing, I thought we would break 20 easy this year w/ all the new owners and by the size of the Toledo Tour alone.
First, you need to know the construction of your walls; post style (z, hat, or tube), distance on-center, and wall covering (lauan, plywood, alum).
Then you can determine the best course of...
Geoff,
Get rid of the oil cooler. We have a bigger issue getting the oil temps up high enough w/every engine builder I have ever worked w/. Plus you can get rid of the weight of the cooler and...
First off, I highly recommend an upgrade to Torsion style independent axles. They provide both a smoother ride, as well as proving more durable than spring axles.
Second, call Tom Mueller at...
Mike-
John Taylor at TDI is the answer to your question.
Jim McKamey's creations were generally constructed using discarded/scrapped Formula B/Atlantic chassis. Mike Mahan in St Louis had/has one of them, which was a Lola. Jim's wife Trudi's car was...

In basic terms FS is a Regional Only 'catch-all' class for formula cars NOC. This would include motorcycle powered cars, or those w/ modified engines, a DSR spec motor for example. Where F1000/FB...
Solo rules take precident, however, thus the difference (and confusion). It is 1020# for BM as outlined in C.1 on pg 222.
CORRECTION: I got ahold of Clemens and his min is 1020 for Solo NOT the 900 as specified in the GCR fo DSR. Damn that car has to have alot of ballast!
Here are the weights of the BM field at...
You must have shown her an FM SoloVee:) Because I've never heard anyone not think a DB1 was a sleek, sexy looking racecar. See our threads on SCCAForums regarding getting into CM.
Running to GCR F1000/FB spec you will be down horsepower and weigh 100# at minimum more than Clemens DSR based car.
However, if you build a car to GCR FS specs you can run at the same weight...

Mike,
There is no need for a battery as large as you are currently carrying. A good, small, deep cycle battery charged will make it thru a two-day event w/ two drivers no problem. If it does not...
Alcon is a very high quality caliper manufactured in the UK. Their American office is in suburban Chicago and is managed by Phil Stubbs a very knowledgable guy.

Guys-
Don't forget that the early entry registration deadline without late fees is next Weds Aug 11 at 4 PM CDT.
CM is currently only at 12 cars, though I know my co-driver and Wendall are two...
The chassis you have focused on looking for are all strong candidates for autocrossing. The in-board suspension cars obsoleted by the Swift DB-1 are plentiful and affordable being that the do not...
Mike
Try calling Porterfield, # is in SportsCar.
Stimola is the man and is currently doing more auto-x shock tuning than anyone in the country, w/ the exception of Koni. Ask him where it all started and he will tell you w/ one of my earlier cars.
Many of us competing in CM started exactly as you did, coming out of a stock class. For myself it was DS, for Godula it was GS, Barry Ott came out of CS and on down the line.
Shopping for a...
Thank you to everyone that has offered their congratulations. My phone, e-mail, & Facebook have been a bit busy since mid-day Friday:)
I would be remiss, however, if I did not publicly...
Two actually, it is a three day event F/S/S.
Is the steering rack in front of or behind the axle center line?
Typically a rear steer car will allow greater Ackerman modification, which will aid low speed turn in and minimize tire scrub,...
The weekends shown on the RA home page are only their larger open to the public spectator events. They do not list every single event, as there is something going on everyday of the week from...
In the price range the winner hands down is an S2000. Evo would be my 2nd choice, I've owned both, but an Evo or M3 (E36) in that price range will be a high mileage daily driver, where an S2000 was...
Long Gone. Baci was the team name for EJ Lenzi's efforts from club FF thru Pro Super Vee and Indy Lights.
EJ is still around in the Chicago area:

For auto-x work on revising the Ackerman, the stock rack ratio will be fine. Is it a front steer or rear steer car?
Bill-
Keep the car "as-is" w/ a 1600 and just freshen it up to current stds; new pistons, lightened flywheel, etc. You will maintain the integrity and re-sale value of the car that way and also do...
