I'm confused how using the same catch can will allow your oil and water to mix? The catch can is vented to the air so pressure shouldn't be building up. So that should keep the water or oil from...
That was cool, but the picture made me feel really old.

The other thing they have in common is that they all stopped racing a long time ago.

It has a Midwestern Council sticker on it. So your friend should know if they accepted it and what class it ran in. I have a hard time believing it was ever a FC.
Paul
So like a pin hole leak in a coolant hose spraying on the headers?

I was under the impression that Evans NPG was flammable. I've seen a few websites that discuss it. So I would google it before switching to it.

Must be a replica, this one is left hand drive all the Google images of the Alfa are right hand drive.

I know this car. Quite a few years ago, it was run out of the same shop that I was using.
It is good to see it racing again. I kept seeing it show up For Sale as it moved around the country.

The thing about that Brabham is, that the owner can really drive. He's not just a vintage guy tooling around in a fast car.
Paul
So did you update his feedback?

Ahh, the REAL formula B.

Whether the thermostat is open or closed will not make a difference in pressure testing the system. It will keep coolant from flowing, but the pressure will "push" both in the normal direction of...
Since I first read this thread a few days ago, it has been on my mind.
First, it sounds like the crash at the Sprints occurred on the front straight. How do two cars crash on a straight unless...
CFB is referencing a potential future class called Club Formula B, similar in concept to CFF/FF and CFC/FC.

It would make sense except he got a job with Sauber.

In section II A of that document it references the Pre-1973 Rules. Those are at this link

I quoted section II, K...
According the Monoposto Club Ford rules, the engine is as described in their standard FF rules. In the standard rules it specifically states, "Updated SCCA legal crankshafts are permitted. "
Paul
You will have to decide which vintage group(s) you are going to run with in order to verify the exact rules. Based on my limited experience in the vintage FF world, the rule set is generally as...
By "it" I mean a FF, any FF. I personally prefer the vintage cars as opposed to the Club Fords, but any FF is better than no FF. Here in the Midwest our vintage car counts in FF are pretty good,...
I sold my Lotus 51 to a guy who had a Lotus 7. He has loved every minute of the "new" car.
Go for it,
Paul
There is one more group. I should have thought of them first. The monoposto club at

I was thinking about the lack of vintage cars signed up for the 40th at Road America. Is it possible to advertise the event to people signed up for the KIC the weekend before? Perhaps you can do an...
The downside here is that the weekend before the 40th at Road America is the big vintage races (Kohler International Challenge). I suspect that a lot of vintage FF guys will be at RA for that event....
These tires last a long time. They do drop off a little after the first couple of heat cycles, but most people run them a LONG time.

Yeah, that's what I have. I have a 2-d AutoCad drawing file. It has multiple views, it just ins't a 3-d image.
Paul
When I first saw this post I realized I may be able to help. But as time passed I've had my doubts on whether I should post the drawing or not. Does anyone else have any thoughts on it...
I downloaded a viewer and printed a PDF of it last night.

Lotus 51
I found the AutoCad drawing. It isn't dimensioned, so I'm not sure how useful it will be without something to view it.

Lotus 51
At one time I had an autocad file for the Lotus 51. Unfortunately, I think I lost it on an old PC hard drive. I'll check over the weekend.

In my experience, lap times at the BRIC are not always indicative of the car's true potential.

Is anyone signed up for the HSR event at Autobahn August 23-26?
This looks like an ideal event for me, lots of turns no looong straights, but I've never run with HSR, only VSCDA and a couple of...
