Thanks for the exhaustive review, Gentlemen.
Excellent narrative! Sorry I missed it ... long work trips into the Great North Woods of Maine are interfering with my season. Congrats to everyone for some clearing spectacular racing.
Hi Gents,
I'm looking for recommendations for upgrading the seat in my '82 Lynx/B. Currently, the seat consists of a couple of taped metal sheets and two taped pieces of 1" thick "Super Space Age...
Thank you for your sage observations.
Good one ;-)
She ain't pretty, but it sure is fun to give the prom queens a bit of a run for their money!
One of the reasons I joined the class was the consistency of the machines over time....
I have four thoughts on this debacle:
1. SCCA and the petitioners have no respect for the heritage of what remains a successful class. This is a huge change in the class with little basis in real...
Optional or not, this is a major shift in the FV class. The beauty of FV = the heritage and simplicity and relative low cost of the class. I see all of these proposals as just more attempts to use...
I'm definitely going to look into racing in the Ontario series for 2014. I live in NW CT and I like the tire economics. In a modest season here, I'm looking at $2400 just for tires... too expensive....
Roger that, Chris. Hope we at least see you at the Runoffs this year!
H
Alerted Chris to this thread...
Well there are more non-FVs than FVs in our group at the moment. That's unusual.
Sounds right.
I was at the Glen May 25-26, and the registrar said that only 87 cars showed up. Ouch. No way that is sustainable.
I'm hearing you, Brother.
I get that, Mark, but the NHMS Triple Play was $375 early, $425 late.... $20 difference.
Plus travel ;)
Lime Rock Double NERRC/NARRC June 21-22, 2013
Friday - AM Qualifying Session and PM Qualifying Sprints
Saturday - AM and PM races
$395 early entry rate, and $445 after June 14.
Only 7 FVs...
Yikes, thanks for not going all ninja on me when we got caught up in Big Bend last year!
;-)
Nice work, boys. I decided to go to the Glen and bask in the sunshine (and 40F and gale winds). Maybe we can coax a bunch of you guys down to Lime Rock for June?
I'm in. Should get there mid-day Friday to catch the PM test sessions. A work obligation prevents our leaving Thursday night.
There is an interesting mix of FV characters from several regions ......
Time to check if iRacing has this course online.
Hi Matt,
We're thinking about it, moving toward a go.
I hope that we do (it's a team decision). Looking forward to racing with you again.
Harry
Old guy? Hardly!
Hi Mark,
I'm thinking about Pocono, but would have to get a work commit moved. Do you know which gearbox is run there? We ran the longbox two years ago. I have to find Curt's email and ask him as...
Hi Gents,
Anyone FV going to Pocono to try out the new track?
Anyone know if this is still a longbox track?
Regards,
H
If the long box/short box thing did not matter at LRP, I think we'd have a lot more guys from up north coming down to race here. I've always been told that the gear box swap is the big issue.
I...
Good job, Trevor. I was trying to catch you in Saturday's race but you're one heckuva driver in a fast car.
That front pack was crazy fast.
Good racing.
Harry
I have an '82 Lynx/B that needs a new body and was thinking about pulling the trigger (heh heh) on a SB body. Your project looks great. Would be interested in chatting with you about the challenges...
Thanks, Dave. It's great to see FV racing from the stands, instead of the usual in-car stuff. Keep up the good work
Harry
Uh, wow? The veteran number is nothing short of amazing.
Heh heh heh. It's pretty long right now, but not to the ZZ Top length I would prefer ;-)
So why don't we all commit to logging car weights, driver weights, and finishing positions across our races this year, and post the information here? One or two first-person testimonies and...
I can convert content on cassette to digital files if you need it.
I agree with previous posts noting that size seems to be more of an issue than weight. We saw at least two potential new FV drivers work their way across the paddock at NHMS in 2011 both trying to...
I respectfully suggest that if Craig and I swapped cars, and he had to run my Fat Cat, he'd still school my sorry ass by 2 seconds at NHMS. I think that we are shorting the talent side.
But then...
My 1982 Lynx/B weighs in post-race at 1070. I weigh 155 and could stand to lose 10+ pounds. I run a fat battery, the post-nuclear starter, and the main front and rear body panels have too much...
Great vids, Mike, and like the FB photos, too.
Hi Matt,
I can put my videos up on Vimeo. Send me a PM with your email address.
Who is Roz?
Thanks!
Harry
No. 8 Lynx/B
Hi Pete and gents, Thanks for the NARRC congrats, we're really happy to have taken it this year. Got to grab it while you can, because the fastest boys are coming for it next year.
The Lime Rock...
Hi Pete,
Excellent! Looking forward to seeing you on Thursday. Nice job at Lightning!
When we ran Thunderbolt in August, we used a western route that Bob Sharp gave us - no NYC/eastern NJ...
Gents,
Thinking about heading to NJMP for the end-of-the-season race ... will have my longbox aboard for the NARRC-offs ... anyone know if the Lightning Track is a longbox track? Thanks.
Best quote of the weekend:
"Why is everybody picking on me?"
-Pete C in impound after the Sunday PM race.
Excellent, thanks very much for the info. No iRacing for NJMP yet - next year - so this is way new beyond YouTube vids and Rolex on SpeedTV.
Anyone have any hints for a first-timer at this track?
One good thing about breaking the crankshaft is that I got to meet Dave Carr and see his shop. A rather extraordinary guy. His shop is immaculate and hyper-organized. He knows FV motors probably like...
Next NJMP club racing is October 22/23 ... just when we're getting hot wax on the skis!
NJMP / Thunderbolt August 19-21 including Friday test day. If you guys are coming down and we're going, we can meet you enroute for a caravan.
The final diagnosis is a broken crankshaft. Hopefully not a lot of broken bits all over the inside of the motor.
Hi Craig, I'm bringing the motor to Dave Carr tonight, so hopefully he can make the magic happen. Hoping....
Results courtesy of John Petillo; I broke the crankshaft in my motor during the afternoon on Test Day. Fun is...
Qualifying 1 James Hannum 2 William Young 3 Dennis Potocki 4 Anthony Parker 5 Nick...
14 FVs as of this morning, looks like a great field. Only 3 of us from NER, c'mon boys, we've got to represent.
A hot weekend of FV racing coming up at The Glen, boys. Literally hot, with a forecast in the 90s across all three days (as of today).
Friday: Test Day.
Saturday: 15-minute qualifying, then 7 lap...
