I believe it is a Penske 7500
Looks like about a 150-200LB spring. Don't know the manufacture.

I purchased this car from Scott Shelly in 08 and completely rebuilt it in 09.
Below is a link to the pictures.

My Crusader FV chassis weighs 145lbs with the belly pan. I weigh 200-210lbs with gear on. Car in race trim comes in around 1050lbs
I put rear anti roll bars on all of my cars. I have never been satisfied with the zero roll concept. My "Z" bar car was the best handling FV I ever had and I attribute that to rear roll resistance.
Yes, that is a neat looking car.
The fairing is made from fiberglass and I believe that Larry Bacon has the molds.
It would not be terribly difficult to make a mold and build your own version.
Pretty sure the FF bolt pattern is 4 x 3.5"
Well, seems as though it is gone. Just ask again and you will receive answers here. The same people hang out here.
Head Temps..... as cool as possible. And always ask where the measurement is...
Brian,
I don't understand what you are trying to say or ask ? What is a non-flexing sway bar? The wheel rate on my car is 25lbs for each front wheel, that would be 50lbs total for the front. Not...
Daryl,
Yes, on my last FV I measured the wheel rate and the motion ratio of the shock, If I remember correctly the wheel rate was about 25lbs and the motion ratio was around .350"/1" of wheel...
Yea, this stuff is confusing mainly because of some of the nomenclature.
I agree with you on everything that you have described other then your description of rising/falling rate.
I agree that...
Well boys and girls I want to guess......... it produces Steam, right ????? ;)
Wow, Interesting stuff. I think Ed is the king of speed.

It does not change the spring rate, it will however increase the spring loading or wheel rate. The spring "rate" never changes unless leafs are added or subtracted.
I agree but shouldn't it be...
And the best position from a geometry aspect also.
Depends on your spring rate, spring preload, weight distribution, brake bias, etc. My car is just over 2" static ride height in the front and it...
I would be willing to bet that Varacins could win the runoffs, at RA, with any of the cars that you just mentioned as long as he had 6 months to get ready and could use his engine, suspension, and...
Obviously you have to be a good driver to win the runoffs, however, at the top level in any class, it is the car that makes the ultimate difference. F1 is a perfect example of that. Last year Button...
Caster along with king pin inclination will control the amount of camber the wheel generates as it turns, just like in the go kart. In a open differential and zero roll car you don't need the jacking...
David,
Chris is right on, there are many very competitive Vee's for $5K-8K available in today's economy.
You could also check out VARA since you are in SoCal. They have a great Vee program...
Robert,
Nice video. What "R" setting are you using?
I can't seem to find the chassis pictures on the web site. Am I just missing them?
I think Brian is referring to "leading arm" as being in front of the axle, which frankly makes more sense to me.
Well Road America was everything I expected and more. What a beautiful facility and setting.
I want to thank S.R Racing for providing 2 FST's for my son and I to rent for the weekend. Everything...
OK, two more officially entered.
Nice Video.
I know that I am a west coast guy but what/where is BIR?
Well I have decided to rent a second car for Road America that way my son and I will each have our own car for the entire weekend instead of sharing one car. This will be the first time that we have...
Dave,
Most boat or marine stores have them. Also some RV stores.
Bob,
Here are a couple of pictures of the oil cooler system that I just finished for the Crusader FV that I am rebuilding. It consist of a 4" marine fan, ducting, and a type III VW oil cooler. A...
Actually, I was thinking J.R. Osborne......... Which may have been worse.
Should be a great time.
JR ????? Who is this JR that you speak of?
BTW, I will be there with my son. We are splitting the driving duties for the weekend.
Will VARA accept SCCA regional licensed drivers? Would we have to join VARA to be eligible to participate? Do you have an estimate on the approximate cost to enter?
Thanks,
Bob,
The hole on the spindle is also tapered unless someone has drilled it out. I would think that most have used a reduction bushing in the spindle to go from 1/2 down to 3/8. That is what I did...
I couldn't agree more with Bill, they should be fine for getting to the track and doing some initial evaluation. I like the fact that they are re-valveable and I would encourage you to experiment...
FV58
Using gas to pressurize the fluid column inside the shock body inhibits cavitation, which is the foaming of the shock fluid that occurs near the piston as it passes through the fluid. Most...
I tried the Proma-Star double adjustable on my FST and they did not work for me. They were to stiff and could not be re-valved.
Erik,
So are you saying that nobody else can have an opinion on this? You talk in such absolutes. I just cant figure out where you are coming from regarding this.
Can you predict the future...
I guess I have to agree with Michael V. I just don't understand the seemingly out of proportion focus that is driving this whole issue. This is racing, it has always been this way and will always...
This issue has nothing to do with why new people don't come to FV
Or...... Brian Harding has found that by porting the heads differently for the spec manifold he can increase the HP. Oh boy, now...
Daryl,
As long as it performs about the same as a good current manifold and is not "Mandatory" then we are in complete agreement.
That is why I think it would have some merit at the national...
IMO there are two different groups of racers here. The National guys and the Regional guys. I could see some benefits of a spec manifold for National racing, however, making regional racers that...
Some of the results should be available on the Cal Club web site. It's pretty weak. If I remember maybe 5-8 cars, probably half of those come from Nor-Cal.
Results for Cal Club Here...
Nice looking car.
Great to see the class gaining momentum with some great new designs.
I will be posting some pictures of my new FST very soon.
Doug,
Actually its not as heavy as it looks. Even at a driver weight of 210lbs I will need to add a bit ballast to make minimum weight. Got to love that. :)
Steve,
Those are both ideas that I have considered. Have you ever driven a car with a tie rod connecting the two spindles directly? I am curious how this type of design would feel from a driving...
Chris,
Bump steer is very important and based on your picture it should be changed. As Greg already stated no one is really getting it done correctly in FST. The rack has some inherent...
Daryl,
The car is a SRF.
Yes, the rack can be adjusted, mainly in a downward direction. During dis-assembly we did find several worn out bushings and rod ends. Additionally the left and right...
Daryl,
"The desired direction" Yes, this is the fundamental question that I am seeking an answer to. Like many theories on suspension set up, sounds like there could be a few different opinions...

Dave,
Thanks for your thoughtful response. I am a little confused by your use of the terms understeer and oversteer when it comes to toe changes. You say that bump understeer is preferable at...
Just got done taking some suspension measurements on a friends car this weekend and I believe I have more questions then answers.
I guess my main question would be, if you had the choice to...
Carl,
Nice video and congrats on the win. I think that you had the dream season that we all hope for.
