That is a picture I posted years ago. At the time I manufactured a 6 volt conversion starter drive to fit the 12 volt starter. I sold a few drives myself, and Bob Lybarger also sold them for me. Bob...
I have these spindles on my car and have a set of spares. I contacted the CRB because they were not included in the GCR any more, I inquired about there legality. It took a while but they responded...
After reading through this thread Brian I think the $2400 price in post #17 is pretty close to the correct cost. I came to that conclusion taking Matt at his word the $1200 dollar price is high....
God, racing season can't come soon enough.
Hopefully it is not a dud like the SCCA Formula Enterprise tire. That would be the end of the class, as a spec tire may still be.
I watched Bill Noble just take a port-a-power to his till he fit.
To lazy to look more pages this year than last?
Just change the steel spacer in the assembly, they are available in different thicknesses. Easy job if you have a press.
Dave
Go to any good bearing house. I use Interstae Bearing. Dave
Why are the West Coast guy's hanging back? Just being good hosts?
Dave
Not in the northeast, but check with BRP. Mike makes some of the best headers out there.
Dave
The seals that come in the kit are standard size if you hone the bore well you are wasting your time.
If you are using the light weight Bosch gear reduction starter you will need to replace the 6 volt bushing with a 12 volt one. you will save a few extra pounds over the Hi Torque.
Dave
Sorry Bill and Jim, we don't have wide enough wheels, our mirrors may be too small and we are not required to use the Kohler B-52 bathtube cut out for the cockpit. Other than that we could run.
...
The problem for our class is there is no place within the rules to test any proposed rule changes. I have asked for many years to modify the FS rules to allow FV with mods to run there. We could get...
Adjusted for inflation tires are no more expensive now than in the 80's. The difference is they last longer and hold air. I am hearing the same arguments I have heard for the last 20 years. Nothing...
ICP spindles are legal. LRE put up money to have them made, it took Bob years to sell the two runs he made. To many FV racers preferred to buy from CIP (Chinese Import Parts). They are large dia....
Big question here, is there a performance advantage? Possible answer, we don't know. I remember Stephan testing some sort of disc set up years ago, but on a test day. Before we jump on this...
Order from a vendor on the Vee website! You order junk you get junk. The vendors that support our class know what you need and sell quality parts. They are very price competitive. You only have to...
It is not hard to build a offset adjuster to install in a beam. Who says the adjusting mechanism needs to be in the center of the car, just the spring holding portion.
Dave
Richard, any plans for a run of spindles? I won't use the Chinese junk out there.
Dave
FYI you can get narrow angled adjusters from some of our FV vendors, just ask.
I use the later backing plates with the narrow adjusters.
Dave
As a side note, Congratulations to Newbie Bill Bonow for completing his first 30 years in SCCA.
Dave
Mark you should have purchased a permanent magnet starter, you would have saved a few pounds more.
Dave
Just be up front on the med form, don't conveniently forget to mention things. It really pisses the Chief of Medical off.
Steve even FF dumped their tire rule.
This is economics 101, make a product, sell a product, make a PROFIT. You are asking the tire companies to cut their profit, take food from their mouths so...
Greg I don'think using the pro FF as a example is helping your cause. At about $900 a set plus M&B& disposal is more than we are paying now. The only restriction I believe is 6 tires a weekend (ie...
A question for Mark, Greg and Bob. Why did you leave FST? It seems to have everything that you are looking for. Cars that will make minimum weight with a 400lbs. driver, dirt cheap engines, all the...
A little to think about, in 1988 When Ron and Butch published their catalog (black and white one) Hoosier tires were $90 F and $95 R each. Adjust that for inflation and what?
In the day those...
The car was designed around Steve Knapp. He 's at least 6'4", that's why the frame rails were notched and plated so you can sit on the floor of the car .
Dave
It looks like you have all the pieces that original Citation's had. The belts will probably be to low to use a HAN's. You will have to do something to that rubber vent line. Most cars didn't come...
FYI the last year the Run-Off's were in Topeka, Dr. Hubbard personally fit Mike V. for his HANS (a Vortec) and it was a 40.
Dave
Call LRE, Bob has the bump rubbers on the shelf.
Dave
Sounds like you knocked the throw out bearing of the cross shaft. Is it a new pressure plate? Did you take the transport clips out?
Dave
Depending on how old the chassis is they are mounted on the cross bar (behind the mock up).
The set up on your car has been used for years. How are you setting the car up? The push rods set the droop the spring sets the camber. That yellow spring is probably 25 years old. But if you...
Bill, re-post the link to the Race Car Engineering story.
Dave
That is a old 8100 series Penske.
Dave
Is it a one or two piece retainer?
Just a suggestion, sit in the car. Having owned a Lynx, those lower support bars may need to have a bend in them. You may have a shoulder or arm problem.
Dave
As stated above make sure it has a front roll hoop as the Original Lynx did not.
Dave
Here is a link to a phone poll out on the Left coast. Interesting.

I think Lisa Noble ran one at Road America this year. I don't know if it was the Run Offs or the national. They are lighter than the standard box, and have the lightest axles of any tranny.

This is how we store our transmissions. We have a small hand stacker to pick them off or can do it by hand. I can recommend a good machine shop to make the frame for you.
