From someone who knows:
"The Delta Wing is certainly an exciting project for all of us, but as w/ all our race tires used in open competition professional series they are confidential and will...
How would we sign up?
I have never met Brian, and don't need to, to know that he is a member of the FV community and as such does not want to see it go away.
Everyone on here has opinions on what FV does or doesn't...
Jay - What classes is it easier to win at the top level? Anyone can go out and buy a top level FV package for less than 20K. Other than that, it just takes talent, seat time and dedication.
I...
We could call it the USFL. :ha:
Like I said I just go to the shows, but my feeling is that the region encourages us and works with us as much as possible to give us our own run groups. But the real promo work is done by fv guys. I...
Couple of things when working with roundy round tracks and drivers. For the tracks especially, what's in it for them to promote road racing? For Thompson and nhms up here it works cause they are...
Our incentives are hanging out with fellow vee racers and meeting potential vee racers. Nothing more, nothing less. That's all we need.
I take very little credit for it besides showing up to stand in the booth, but the northeast formula vee guys do the circle track show circuit. We do not rely on the scca to promote us at these...
Marshall - at least in the northeast the scca powers that be are very open to working with drivers on alternate methods of sign off for novice permits. We have several methods including club racin...
Publish the schedule early (2015 for 2016) and coordinate at least division wide.
Don't compete with marque or unique events. For example, Thompson runs a formula only weekend, scca bracket...
Noel - I think we agree we need a lower cost solution to the "spec" slick we currently have.
Where we (and many others in the thread) disagree is whether a DOT tire should be the spec tire. Even...
Thanks Chris for posting the survey results.
So objectively as possible, from the survey results:
77% of respondents would support a spec tire
74% of those that were...
Or converted their FVs to that hot new class that was gonna take the racing world by storm.
One thing I'll give the 1200 guys credit for is for, so far, crushing the annual FST chatter.
Thanks for the math lesson. I appreciate it.
Also, I made no comment on the drivers or racers in Canada, especially compared to US FV drivers. I actually think its cool what the 1200 guys are...
Agree - all that separated me from Roger, Rick, and Gary at the WGI majors race was my tires!!!!
Agree Matt. Same reason I used to shave victoracers back when I ran a car, but having more tire on the road on a shaved falken sure won't hurt grip.
Honest though - what about something like this:

Proven:
The NS-2R is the control tyre for race championships such as the UK FunCup...
OK Matt cause you gotta go so fast, what about these below, again same size wheel, readily available, cheap radial, make for close racing, and not the high cost of the Falkens:
...
Also a larger contact patch which I have a hard time getting it through my head that it wouldn't help. I think my English teacher just cried a bit.
What I mean is shaving will give more rubber...
Hi David:
No I have not, but I still would anyway as would I assume many of the other competitors.
Again it goes back to things like the red penskes or refreshing heads/engines when we do. How...
Brian:
I like it. I go through two sets of Hoosiers a year that become my practice tires the next year. If this cuts me down to one set per year then I think this is a viable solution. It would...
You got a speedometer? I sure dont.
Sent my letter in requesting a spec Kumho T121. Available for about $50 each and we get to keep our current wheels.
Mike if it is truly a concern for Palmer #1 you will have to go to the head steward to get FS with FV. I am sure they won't care.
For Palmer #2 and Thompson the supps haven't been published yet,...
Just run in FS and no one can protest you that way - never mind that you will get first place hardware!
The falken package or any other non-FV spec package can be run now in FS, just be sure to register that way.
In. Lots of track time for the dough.
Try finding a 1999/00 head - NLA from Mazda.
I have read this thread laughing sometimes and disappointed some others. But the amount of bull**** being spewed is amazing. Almost every post only...
Amen Amon
It's FV racing - we just got this one uploaded:

That's what is great about the SCCA. It's a club. Don't like the way rules are written then make proposals and or work your way up the ladder to the crb. Don't like how tech is doing their job?...
Wait a second - no one else does that now?
great drive by swanson. fun race to watch.
The number of total entries this year doesn't seem like an outlier over the last four years. Just a quick total of FV starters over the years. Last couple of years are entrants.
2005 - 44 FV
2006...
Same question on the suit. Looking at costumes for the Rolex 24 and thinking this may do the trick.

Hi Brian:
Are there new ball joint beams easily available? I assumed by now we were all working off of refurbished stock. Are they not the same sources for refurbished balljoint and linkpin beams?...
Hi John - all great questions on long term vision.
But directly on topic:
What is the problem the committee trying to solve with disc brakes and ball joint beams?
How does this change...
Thanks everyone for the PMs and recommendations. I was finally able to source a set of new German drums. Based on supply though it sounds like my next set will be the Italian ones.
Craig
I had heard the Italian were next best. Anyone have a source for those? Thanks.
Anyone have a source for new German front drums? Does anyone make an upgraded one like we have for the rears?
Thanks,
Craig
Changing the brakes, beams, and wheels will get those west coast cars out of the garages!
Pete - sounds like you bought a car and plan to race this year? If so, cant wait to see you back out there. Craig
And this rule change should get people pulling their vees out of mothballs by the thousands.
It appears that if you change the front to discs you "must" do the rear too. All or nothing type deal.
"Rear brake drum assemblies must be removed and replaced with one piece cast iron rear brake...
Yup. The link to vote NO is here:

When they get the link up to vote yes I'll post it.
What would have been better imho is allowing a conversion kit for our current beams.
Unfortunately, it turned into a beam, wheel, tie rod, shock conversion package. NFW am I doing that. All I...
I had the same clearence issues, but I found that thinking pure thoughts took care of my problem.
