I know this is an older thread but figured I would clear up a few things. Early billet pans picked up about mid pan, maybe slightly forward of mid. They had trap doors on either side and one in front...

David, if I told you, you wouldn't belive me.....it's the way of the forum and the reason I quit posting on here a long time ago. Everyone thought I was just trying to sell parts. I now suggest you...
David, guys have recently revisited the challenge I suggested a few years back and did there own testing as I sugested years ago. Many found there is an actual advantage beyond oil pressure and...
Haha, I was looking down....
Who ever said there was supposed to be parity???? Rules say any 1L engine, not any 1L engine as long as it makes the same power as yours. Plus it's not engine du jour, it came out nearly 5 years ago....
Ok, must admit first, I have not read many of the posts in this thread, but have spoken with many competitors. We would have been fine with the proposed restrictor rule and did loads of dyno testing...
lengthened wheelbase? was it short before or something? what was it and what is it now? what about track?
did the failure do damage to the car or no spare? seems a monday failure would give plenty of time to come up with one, no? seems that car went from what 2-3 seasons running very reliable, to many...
when you mount the zx10r in the chassis with the oil pan mating surface at a 7-8 degree angle (which i recommend to everyone that inquires) and the front of the pan 1.25" off the floor(thickness of...
i would for most guys. the newest engines have the clutch quite high, so it mounts in the car a bit different whereas the 08-10 motor is shaped more similarly to a gsxr. but for a citation guy, the...
another engine that is oddly overlooked is the 08-10 zx10r. i have played with these and see around 192hp with a simple flash, and these are very reliable engines. guys in europe and australia that...
we have been running the zx10r in our Stohr/BRD car for 1 year now and find shifting to be just fine. the one thing we have learned that makes shifting perhaps a little more cumbersome is the fact...
we offer a bolt on kit for the Stohr that uses Alcon calipers and custom rotors that use the stock rotor hats etc and it costs a LOT less then the PFC setup and works very well. it uses 2 piston...
any wet or dry sump system for 01-08 gsxr 1000 should fit onto that motor. with dry sump, you actually eliminate the oil lines to the cooler and drill the last bit of material out of the cooler...
hmm, i guess i wouldnt use any of the commercially available swinging pickups, as those are designed for drag bikes and stunt bikes, ie go and stop(and willies etc), not really cornering, but we...
chad what year of gsxr are you talking about? with hundreds of customers around the world running dry sump, i am yet to hear of any of them having oil pressure problems.... where are you getting this...
i think what kevin is trying to say is that we started with a flat table, mdf and foam, and the cars body changes by 5% and suddenly it is a new car???? most people would only notice the bumps for...
those prices are actually high. we used our header/exhaust system right off the gsxr engine with only a slight, very quick mod. if your current car is already dry sumped, then all you need is the dry...
The pan starts off life as a 30lb slab, and comes down to 6.5lbs, so not bad for such a large piece. I think the Honda pan was 7.5lbs so he got ya there don. Now get those cars done and on track so...
what he means is the oil tank breather. we found that since most of these cars are technically running too small of a dry sump tank, they were drinking the tank too low in most cases. george and i...
george and i have both invested a lot of time and money into this project, and will have to keep some of this info in the dyno room. those that get their hands on the motor will figure it out on...
this engine has an oil/water heat exchanger. the dry sump kit will eliminate that and scavenged oil will go through your oil cooler on its way back to the tank like all of my other kits. the blockoff...
well, this thread went kinda crazy while we were busy working on the new zx10! now we are on the 09 gixxer? really? short answer, stay with your 07-08 if you like suzuki.
as for the debate...
i take it back, if you shift the graph to line up peak power, there is no crossover, the kawi spanks it from the beginning to the end. as for gearing, you likely would not change it. i just...
and remember that for a true power overlay, you would shift the zx10 graph to the left until 13200 is over 12000 for the gsxr as those are the peaks for each, and that is what your gearing difference...
why would we put an inlet restrictor on it? just because it makes more power then a gsxr? maybe we should have put a restrictor on the gsxr so the older zx10, r1, cbr1000, etc could keep up with it?...
things have been crazy busy here at BRD this winter, but we have managed to finally get the light weight brakes mounted up for Taylors Stohr FB car. this kit has been in development for some time...
there is also a possibility that once we upgrade the first prototype rebodied car we did to the new body, that we would sell the prototype body work. it would be a complete kit with light weight side...
save yourself the hassle and just buy our body upgrade :D then you get the lower intake, WAY smaller side pods, improved cooling, more efficient diffuser, narrowed center body and shave 40-50lbs off...
not sure we are experiencing a trade off in our case, we have 180 horsies gobbling up high pressure air that would otherwise be creating drag at the roll hoop, and spitting it out the exhaust right...
but fuel injection is open, n2o is just part of my injection right. so why are we specifying what you can and can not do in all these other areas? no shaving heads, or moving cams etc. i guess the...
interesting on the n2o. i was talking to george about this last winter, and told him i do not actually see anything that says it is not legal. i assumed it was in some general rule some how some way...
oh, and the occasional blow up we do see is usually valve droppage... have not seen a broken, or discolored rod at a local race in some time now, not even dsr
please explain.... we all know the story of you installing an engine that clearly had been apart, and should have replaced the rod bolts, but chose not to, yada yada yada... the VAST majority of guys...
no joke, i blew the engine in my lawnmower spring of 2010 because i forgot to check the oil from sitting all winter, and she let go while mowing the ditch, so on an angle.... should we suggest that...
we run the suzuki with dry sump, and run several races, and never blow up. several wet sump guys experience the same result. most stock suzuki blow ups are random. even the carrillos broke randomly...
i believe i have good insight on this subject as i have re-bodied the stohr now twice. on the first one, we shortened the first gen stohr intake 3" or so, and went with traditional side pods, and it...
i think everyone was "scared" into compliance. not sure anyone would want to show up with known legality issues. the rules have been clarified over the entire season, and hopefully that is all behind...
anyone taking pics this year? congrats Brian, nice run.
fill your motor to the bottom of the site glass and go dyno it.... now fill it 1/2qt above the site glass and dyno again..... the power will not be what your engine builder said it was because he...
we are pretty confident in our full front wing package, we were just looking to test a low budget approach to improving these cars. a customer can buy flaps and end plates and install in a short...
new front wing all finished up just in time for miller. we have kind of changed the direction we are going for now. we are now focusing on improving performance as inexpensively as possible. the new...
holy cow! been working like a dog on the new updates to the car, and had no idea this was going on until craig showed up to load this morning and told me to check it out. thank you for all the kind...
mike, does this mean you have an idea of something that may be non compliant on jons car? if so, spill the beans. i think this thread could be productive in cleaning up some of the cars that may be...
just got off the phone with jon lewis, and he spoke with the scca, and yes my floors would be illegal as the rules intent, and i believe it also may be written somewhere is that anything visable from...
so it was brought to craig archers attention that the side pod to floor relationship on the new bodywork we did for the stohr was illegal in relation to this rule, but i am a bit confused. i believe...
you mean this guy? we have been running it for a little over a year now, and are quite pleased with it. this is just a pic i have of it after finishing, not sure i have a pic with it in car with the...
the diffuser is now a left and right side flat floor section with a one piece rear diffuser similar to the original car, only the underside of the diffuser is molded rather then the top, and there...
here is the first car we did. smaller side pods, air intake shortened 3.5", but still over roll hoop. new pods further narrow the car by 4" more. this car received quite a list of upgrades including...
quick sneak peak of the stohr aero update we have been working on. plug was built on car to minimize frontal area everywhere possible, and we have definitely reduced frontal area! engine air intake...
