Is your FM stock? (Sealed engine and all of that?)
Some might go as far to call it green slime!

Just to make sure I have it correct, THIS stuff:

Well, since you brought it up... What IS the gear oil of choice? Previous owner says he uses redline gear oil. I asked what weight, and he said "Yes. Both of them". So, I assume that those of you...
This is a great question! I see 2 options.
1. Confiscate the engines at the end of the season (not likely).
2. Hold the original owner responsible for the remaining cost of the engine (likely!).
How do you check the level of oil in the tranny?

Exactly! I was saying that I'm an idiot, but this is what I understand the speeds to be.
Warning! Possible idiot RESPONSE, read with caution!
From what I've seen, I think the speed list would be:
FA FB PFM FC FE FM
Yeah, there are some HUGE oscillations going on there. The front and the rear moving independent of each other.
Which I blame on NASCAR. As that's the 1st place that I heard it done.
(Pardon any unintentional naivety)
Hmm.. I wonder how much of this has to do with races being more of a TV thing now,...
This comment brought to you by Honda.
Honda.
Honda.
And in closing, Honda.
HAH! Almost alphabetical!
Yes! Cool video! I just wish they had included more info about the engine manufacturer. There were spots where it went almost a full MINUTE without mentioning their name!

All the same. All NGK N6725-11.
Well, the oddly connected regulator appears to function correctly, as once I replaced the plugs it appears to be MUCH MUCH better. So, I had temp 10 plugs (NGK Iridium 10's) in it, and I replaced...
Then, I made a weird discovery.
It is my understanding that with the Holley regulators, the INPUT is the bottom, and there are 2 outputs, 1 on either side. The way that MINE is hooked up, the...
Is it possible that the diaphragm is the cause of my problems? (Ordered a repair kit, will change it when I get it).
So, I was curious about the fuel pressure regulator. I got the info from it, and looked it up online. Holley 12-804. (aka 34R-6657B). The specs for it say that it works up to 4 PSI. Then, I...
Can anyone ID what type of formula car that is?
Well, believe it or not, when I took a peek just now, the marks were visible with the engine off.

I had to remove my seatbelts to get mine out. It wasn't easy! But, I wanted the indentations for them in the seat, without trusting my artistic carving skills.
Hey guys. What's the normal method of timing advance on our engines? Talking to a bud who knows lots about 13Bs, and he was convinced that I have a vacuum advance issue. Went down, checked the...
BEAUTIFUL work there Maris, congrats!
The things that I considered while moulding mine:
* Broomstick test, make sure I pass.
* Side to side movement in the car (No chance before the seat, as the opening between the panels is EXACTLY...
When it comes to seats, boy did YOU ask in the right place. I did mine less than a month ago, and am working on the nomex covering currently.
I used THIS kit: ...
How do I check the fuel flow rate?
1st outing for me. Got the car in January, and started it and let it idle (so as to not annoy the neighbors!) every month. This was the 1st time I'd tried to rev it over 1K. The only things that...
Is there a guide/book/document to help a newbie learn how to adjust his carb? I had a track day today, and managed to get *1* lap of the 1st session in.
I was unable to get over 2k RPMs, I could...
I'm just starting myself, but I asked that same question, and the answers I got were almost uniformly, "I don't track it, that takes all the fun out of it".
Or similar.
The pop-riveted tag that has your serial number on it has the year. The 1st 2 digits are the year. In my case, it's "98 134". So, the 134th chassis made in the year 1998.

I THINK this is what you're talking about, the Mazda MSR:

I got a local guy who welds cages to do it. Looks good. Rebuilding the car now, since I had to basically disassemble everything near that area. Oh, and I have to "adjust" the fuel cell cover,...
AHHHHH! OK! Thanks! I was thinking this was in the customer's shop after delivery.
So, I figure the car doesn't come with a dash, or dampers. So that's why THOSE are missing in the pictures, but what about the uprights? Are they just removed in these pictures?
Can I ask some "I'm a noob who has never build a car like this" questions?
When you get the "kit" (for lack of a better word), from the manufacturer, is it COMPLETE?
Do you need to fab...
Since we're talking about F1 here, odds are some of the machines used to make some of those metal parts were from Haas. :-)
I've seen this myself. Some of my local groups allow my bud to run his Palatov D1, but won't allow me to run my FM, even though I'll probably be slower than the D1.
It makes no sense, and arguing...
Hey guys. My car has the old single hoop, which I've heard is unsafe. So, I got the kit from Moses to upgrade it.
Has anyone done this? If so, do you have pictures? It's generally pretty...
Also, I can help you with the E0 quest:

I know, I was speaking solely towards the trend that I've seen where if you point out that the price of a new car is affordable, someone steps up to say that "The reason it's so cheap is because it's...
(Waits patiently for someone to say "Yes, it's so cheap there have to have been corners cut, and sacrifices made.)
The most amazing part to ME, is the invisible rotisserie!
I know that the nose is mounted to the chassis via the 2 cap head bolts. What do you guys have UNDER them? I have some homemade rubber pieces that look like attempts at washers. Obviously this...
$51K? I assume that's WITHOUT the engine? If that's WITH, then we're living in a GREAT time to be a bunch of club racers. As, IMHO, when these cars "filter down" to the club scene, they should be...
Yeah, I'm seriously thinking about adding the other 6. That's why I asked what you guys were doing. It just seemed a little "light" for my tastes. (Unlike myself). :-D
I'm pretty sure that was the thinking BEHIND it. I'm just concerned as to whether it's enough. If you "standard FM guys" are using 6, I may need 6 with my 225HP FM-like.
My new car has 3 per, all the way around. Thus the reason I ask.
All 6? Only 3?
