I think a smart guy could build a competitive, one-off, inexpensive F1000. If you could do your own fiberglass work, welding, make fabricated uprights instead of machined, etc.
The car is only...
JR Osborne in the Stohr F1000 is fastest in National Qualifying with a 1:05.7, Kyle (Stohr) 1:06.1, Rod Rice (Stohr) 1:07.7.
All the Firman cars had problems and they packed up and went home....
Christopher,
I don't think anyone could design a car for SCCA racing with only the rule book to go by.
You have to know the history, the court rulings over the years, the intent and then decide how...
JR won again in race 2 in his Stohr. Some chaos behind, I don't know the details.
Osborne (Stohr) won, Belling (Firman) second.
I'm not there, don't have more details.
Sean, I hope you get back behind the wheel again soon.
Best wishes,
Lee
Please remind everyone exactly how you set your oil level with this pan.
That is critical with the wet sumps.
I think Joshua Held used one on his DSR, no one else was brave enough as far as I know.
Contact him on DSR Forum or LinkedIn.
The swinging pickup pan is where your pan came from to start with.
Buy one here - http://shop.koenigeng.ihoststudio.com/productinfo.aspx?productid=010
Should be great under braking !
Hope it works the other 98% of the time under acceleration :)
Lawrence, The Suzuki wet sump pickup is not at the back of the pan, don't understand what you talking about?
Are you planning on moving the pickup all the way to the front of the pan?
Different engines seem to behave differently. With the Yamaha wet sumps it was cornering oil pressure that was always the problem. Jeff at Loynings developed that pan every year until the pressure...
Jeff at Loynings was the only guy I ever saw build the Runoffs winning Yamaha's.
I spent a lot of time with Jeff and spent time in the dyno room with Arnie.
In our early years (2003) with the wet sump Yamaha, we would see 18psi in the corners at MidOhio, and the engines lived. Never saw much over 50. Hot idle was zero psi. I used to add oil until it...

Are we confusing two different things here? Seems like some people want a $20,000 car that is just like a Formula 1 car. That's never gonna happen. Or is the desire really to get the fastest...
CAD model available in .stp (4M) or Solidworks 2004 (13M) or .3dm (7M).
Many shapes simplified but the widths, height, trumpets, exhaust ports, rear engine mounts are pretty accurate. 2007 side...
Richard, The last thing you'd want is the SCCA involved - that would be like putting the government in charge of health care :)
I guess we'll always disagree about cost being the root of all...
I don't know Richard, after selling almost 100 new race cars we've only sold one kit.
There aren't many people today that want to assemble a new race car, let alone build one from scratch. New car...
Yup; and only you, me and about 6 other guys would give a ****.
If your translator can find the Rules, and a contact email - that would be great.
Maybe also translate the latest news item too.
Thanks
Unfortunately almost everything written about the series is in Japanese, and the internet translators don't do a very good job with Japanese. Maybe someone can help?
I think the series is founded...
New class with almost no rules ! Spec tire width, spec carbon tub, fixed inlet restrictor - I think that's it. Any engine, any body type allowed.

10" wheels is the limit. Stohr / Phoenix usually run 8/10" Goodyears. Coop and Piper last year normally run 7/9" Hoosiers, I think.
Mark usually has an in-car camera. Maybe he'll upload it in a few days ?
Pretty cool to see a class of fast, great sounding race cars, with 4 different manufacturers all competitive at the biggest...
George is heading for the podium to hand out some F1000 series awards.
I'll talk to him later.
Don't know anything about FE, don't care.
George was standing with Justin Pritchard most of the race, he says the Coop sure pulled eveyone on the straights.
Jaremko got second when Kyle dropped out.
Coop grabbed the lead early, led most of the way. Kyle was second with Mark on him most of the race. Then at the very end, Mark got by for second. The Firman car had some issues early, was never a...
Coop wins
Lap 13 - George is giving me the rundown
car 7 trackpedia car might be 3rd, Brandon 4th
Kyle smoking, dropped out. Don't know who is third
Mark about 4 seconds back.
Last lap - Coop leads, Mark second, I think he spun at some point. The Firman car dropped back early.
Talking on phone to George Dean
Coop lead, Kyle , Mark trying to take 2nd
There goes SCCA's chance to broadcast the FOTA races next year
Mark did a 12.2, took pole. The other 3 fast guys were in the 13.7's.
Mark was still learning the track yesterday, he was having some trouble with curbs and the surface.
How do you know the top speeds ?
I wouldn't say Coop is a long shot, he has the most well-sorted F1000 of the bunch and is as quick as anyone. Any of the top 4 could win, it's pretty hard to pick...
You're not alone pal.
Looks like the Coop won, and Brandon made it out - maybe had some new car bugs ?
Hope to hear a full report.

I think Dave Palmer had a differential issue and couldn't start.
Absolutely perfect weather this weekend in Portland, lot's of car out for the first National.
Keith Lively (Swift 014) battled with Phil Fogg Jr's Pro Mazda for the overall win with Phil taking...
The fastest qualifying times at Road Atlanta were set last year for F1000, Justin Pritchard in the Piper did a 1:21.2. Fastest DSR time was 1:17.8, Jean Luc in a Stohr (of course:) Race lap records...

Glenn Cooper 1:22.3
Jordan Taylor 1:22.8
Good job Coop ! Keep that old car of yours in front tomorrow !
Apparently Mark felt something wrong with a rear tire and slowed, unfortunately Nick tapped him in the rear before he could get around. Mark dropped out but later on so did Nick. Gary left early...
The first race completed this morning, here is a sketchy report. Chris Farrell won DSR, Woodman won F1000 in his Stohr, Mark came from the back to get second in the Phoenix.
John Hill won FF. I...
I can only speculate what the lap times should be now that Thunderhill has been repaved.
However, Mark Jaremko did 1:39's in DSR qualifying 2 years ago with a Yamaha engine.
The new Suzuki's are...
It doesn't look like I'll have a complete 3D model of the '07/'08 generation Suzuki.
It might be time to start designing around a newer generation engine anyway.
