Great pictures. Goodness I am so far off the apex cones I think I am driving the wrong course!:D
Yes FFast indeed. Maybe that is what FF stands for!:D
P.S. - Frankly much of the CM grid exhibits this kind of ability. Those who say the CM index is too easy may not have a good view of the depth of talent here.
P.P.S. - when i get some proper...
Yes I know and hence my statement in parenthesis. And of course I don't hate Nick, just a joke.
What amazes me about his driving (and others as well) is how easy they make it "look". Smooth...
Pru - thanks for posting. Nick makes it look effortless (I know it wasn't). I think I hate him :D
As usual Nationals is about more than just competing. I very much enjoyed meeting everyone in CM and look forward to seeing you all next year! I am worn out, but very, very happy. I promise to drive...
Always included! Wish you were running!
Doug
P.S. - I know everyone else wants 19's....How about some 13's!:D
I am way back in row 19. I may arrive late Sunday, but more probably early Monday. See you folks there.
Mark,
I am no AIM dash expert, but I have learned to work with it. I'll be paddocked in the back with all the Texas folks. I'd be happy to share what I know.
Dick,
I am slower than a...
Just back from an a long non-racing vacation. Thanks for the info Don!
Dick,
If you think I can beat you then you haven't looked closely at my times. :)
Definitely come to Blytheville though. More FF is more fun! I hope Blytheville scrubs the OPR from my tires....
Spring Nationals was epic fun. It was good to put faces to some of the names I have been hearing. The car was great, my driving wholly inadequate...but still big fun.
We took 52 runs over the...
Dick,
Sorry to hear the car is bustificated. Hope you get it fixed up soon.
As for rain no set up advice from me but...I would think about something like rainex for your helmet, and something...
Thanks George, it was great fun, and thanks for the advice. Frankly I had forgotten how much fun Pro Solo is. One additional note, the top of my right shoulder looks like somebody went after it with...
Hey All,
A brief trip report. I tried everyones tips and tricks. They all worked, we had an awesome time and I managed a 4th place trophy in the combined R1/R2.
The car was flawless with...
Hey Eric. Great tips thanks! I watched you using the chock. We used to have one (about 100 years ago). I will make a new one.
I have a small Honda inverter and a charger that plugs in to the...
Damn. Great find!
I love the clear tail light lenses. I ordered the adjustable powerband and the piston return springs. I am hoping for big things....
George,
All you folks looked pretty fast to me. Good job. Great drive by Jon Clements. My kids thought I was crazy as I yelled "go little red car go" at my computer screen while making chili.
...
Yup. We are of one mind on indexing and dilution!
I am not a fan of indexes...having left that turd in the punchbowl...
Pro indexes are difficult to manage because they should take into account the ability of various cars to launch quickly. This...
Nice running by the FF cars today. Top four spots. Good luck tomorrow!
There ya go. I love big events!
All I have to run against is some guy named Saunders in a BM car :)
I'll take everyones advice, worry less, and have fun.
Fuel was the magic bullet for me and Jackie codriving.
I used fuel as the final piece of ballast for Jackie. I also made a seat back for her that had 5lbs of weight in the base. Were used bags of...
Of all the forms of Solo, the Pro's are Jackie's favorite. It should be a fun weekend and lots of runs and stiff competition make it great for driver training.
That and I really like the...
Thanks George! Do you guys have any issue with cooling?
Good Luck at El Toro.
Doug
Hey Everyone!
Thanks for the replies everyone. Great info!
The car cools as well as any Kent in a Swift, which means it stays cool while on course, but multiple back to back runs will...
Hey Everyone,
Next weekend will be my first Pro Solo in a FF. Any tips or tricks? How do you manage the launches to avoid breakage? How do you manage engine heat etc. I know some of you have had...
Thanks for the advice everyone. I think Barry O. said it best (for me). At the top of second gear when things are very busy, I want the extra safety net if I stay in the throttle and don't shift to...
Bringing this thread back up from the dead. I am deciding between the Microdynamics RL-3 and the MSD soft touch rev limiters for my Kent powered Formula Ford. I have a Bosch distributer and Pertronix...
You hinted at a few setup changes between the two (camber and air). How do they feel vs the Hoosier's?
I'm with you Mike, on all counts.
Doug
Dick,
Yes on the body work. Frankly with my newly healed arm taking the tail off the Swift by myself rapidly degrades into a Monty Python skit.
What my addiction...err racing....needs is pit...
I dont agree with the move. While I don't imagine the solo vee being an overdog, I do fear what might happen if it is given more performance in the future.
Having said that, if it is to be this...
Fantastic Videos! After watching them I went and sat in the Swift and made racecar noises. So many FAST drivers in CM. So many beautiful cars. I agree with Dick, the Fit intake sound is awesome. ...
No it doesn't. But it is not the greatest mix. It can be the beginning of of "give them allowances to make them equal". The creates a very different landscape than currently exists.
I am pleased that the MAC altered the proposal to keep the Vees where they are mod wise. But I still don't like having a non-gcr compliant car in the class. In other words a car with allowances....
CM runs second heat. My favorite heat to run at Nats!
Still cool in my book!
Texas! Wow you were there when it all began. Very cool.
21 cars in CM and 3 in CML. That is awesome! I am working up a serious case of jealous. Good luck everyone :)
Thanks guys. I am bummed for sure. Gotta look on the bright side, I only broke one arm (at one point it looked like both) and the car is running. Hopefully my planets are now aligned. :)
I can't...
I have good news and bad news. The good news is the 65 car is back in top form. Woot!
The bad news is I broke my elbow 2 weeks ago. It is healing ok, but not well enough to be out of a cast let...
Good luck! The extinguisher spot is nice if you want a more nose heavy car because it has the potential to give you that with a lower polar moment than a more forward placement. We looked at an...
Mark,
On my Swift DB-1 I will eventually need to add weight for my wife when she drives. We will be making a bar that goes under back most portion of the seat bottom. Other areas we contemplated...
My motor is finished and goes back in this weekend. I will be out of town for a few weeks but hope to get a few shakedown runs before Lincoln. I'll be there even if I have to paint a 65 on my head...
Excellent!
Ted, Don't leave just yet. Send a letter, stick around and help us fend off this proposal.
I understand you are looking for a better place to play, and I even sympathize. The problem is we need to think about what might happen if someone runs an SV and really does want to win. The mods...
Yes and yes...
Maybe Legends Cars and SV's in WTFM?:D
I really don't think they are a better fit in CM. CM is populated by GCR legal cars that have a fairly contained ruleset. Solo Vees are a miss mash of rules and allowances that never seem to satisfy...
