1964 Autodynamics FV MK I for restoration
Very early (shorter trailing arms), relatively unmolested car.
I’ve come to the realization that I’m not likely to get around to restoring and racing this car as planned. After acquiring it a few years ago, I completely disassembled the car and documented everything thoroughly with many pictures.

I then did a lot of research – including discussions and or emails with Ray Caldwell and others who worked for Ray early on at Autodynamics – to verify what was/wasn’t original. (I live in Marblehead, MA where Autodynamics was started, and that has helped with access to people and information.) What I learned is that very little has been altered from original. Beefier roll bar was added at some point. Upper bracing connecting to steering support was removed, likely for legroom. Steering column bracket slightly altered. Aside from that, little else appears messed with, and no signs of frame damage.
Body is in good condition. (Please see pictures.) Car came with later “bobtail” engine cover, but I did manage to track down a full rear engine cover from another early car (yellow car in the pictures) that will be included. I have the windscreen as well from that same yellow car. Both of these parts would be very hard to find if you were looking to restore to original.
The car has the number 1100 stamped on the top, left hand side of the steering support cross member. Another early car I know of has a similar stamping of 1101. So, while it seems this might have been done at the factory, Ray Caldwell does not have any recollection of the stampings/numbers. Another Autodynamics employee thinks it might have been ID for Bahamas race cars, but I haven’t been able to confirm anything one way or the other.
Engine case number 2426152 is matching date code for 1958/1200cc/36hp. Carburetor is PCI 28, correct for 36hp engine. Transaxle number 6145830 is matching date code for 1960 Type 1
The car has the original instrument panel, but did not come with any gauges. However, I do have a brand new, rare Faria tachometer ($499 on ebay!) that the car would have originally come with that was given to me by a former Autodynamics employee. This will be included, along with other vintage correct SW gauges. (These can all be seen in the pictures as well.)
