IGOFL Car
Stop by the FST paddock and take a peek at the prototype frame of the IGOFL car. This car frame was conceived by Sam Farmiga and skillfully TIG welded by Matt Seim. I am bringing my UPS scale to get the raw frame weight for those interested.
See you at Mid Ohio

Prototype frame w pics
If you remember our objectives for getting building the IGOFL car were to plans or a complete frame available to Formula FST builders or converters.
The frame would be designed to fit many of the available bodies so that the builder could just buy and install.
The builder can pick many rear suspension systems or use one they already have.
The frame should strong, light and able to fit big drivers.
The frame will be configurable to the driver, trailing arms or leading arms. Pedals shift linkage, steering box mount can be anything desired by the builder
The frame should be simple and not complex thus easily repaired or replaced.
The frame should not require a custom fuel cell.
So here is the almost-complete frame. It weighs 93lbs. and will use a BRD rear suspension, Evolution pedals and shift linkage. The pictures show the detail. Picture 1 show s the bare frame. Picture 2 shows our crew Craig in the car. He is 6.2 and 250 lbs. but has great room. The roll bar is legal height and he does not have to fold up to get in the car. The frame’s benefactor, Sam Farmiga chose a Mysterian body which fits the frame like a glove (sec Pic 3).
Our projections indicate that a driver Craig’s size would need to run ballast.
