I keep seeing that this is an Autocross and Hillclimb forum. I have not seen any Hc posts. Is anyone doing it in a FF? There is an event sort of locally every year and I consider it each year. Just wondering if I could get a head start on what it would take. Firmer tires than autoX? Stiffer suspension? What else?

In North Carolina there is "Chasing the Dragon" twice a year. 2014 will be on March 22 & 23 and then on September 13 & 14. http://www.dragonhillclimb.com/

LOL, good point. But the stops at winery's in the area are at the conclusion of the days speed/climb events :)
Maryhill is a great road - but somewhat dangerous in an open wheel car.
My co-driver myself run the knox mountain hill climb in Kelowna and will be back there this year. Here's a video of him driving:

I first was introduced to Auto Racing when I was a kid by watching Pennsylvania hill climb association events. I watched for years, hoping to race one day. PHA drivers are a great group of guys that will do anything for a fellow driver. +1 for PHA

My locost doesn't quite qualify as an open wheel car but there are sometimes some FFs and a few older lola's that run with the NW hillclimb group. http://www.nhahillclimb.org/
They run a few hillclimbs out of northern cali and southern oregon as well as Maryhill and a few out in Idaho.
I went to two events for the first time this last year and was totally hooked after my first outing. they are SO much fun!
I'm intending on trying to go to all of their events this year.
I really recommend going out to an event - even if you don't run it's a great experience - go sit at one of the safety spots up the hill and watch cars go flying by.

Last year, we had over 3000 spectators, and everythign from a Formula cars to a McLaren MB1 Can Am car to a Lancia Delta Integrale.

We have a series of hillclimbs in the NW in CA, OR, WA, and ID run by the Northwest Hillclimb Assoc. (NHA) and local sponsoring clubs (usually AX clubs) . See www.nhahillclimb.org .
