Success!
Just got back from my first SCCA driving school at Watkins Glen. Thanks to Kris of K-Hill Motorsports who made it possible by jumping in with a last minute rental of a well setup VD00 FC. It was fantastic:
1) I was quickly able to get used to the car on a course I knew well
2) After a few sessions I figured out left foot breaking and clutchless downshifting
3) My times went down and down (short course 1:23, long course 2:08, still waiting for my race times)
4) I won the race, overall and in my class
5) I was signed off for my novice license, time to race!
I'm going to try to find a Zetec to drive to compare to the Pinto.
Thanks for the help thus far!

way to go!
congrats-
so now you can come to the ARRC, if you run (rent) a 1995 or earlier FC.
you must have done good things, usually don't get signed off after just the first school.

It helped that I knew the track, but I definitely did well. Doing research on cars to buy and next events to run. Considering school at summit point, as I don't know that track well yet. Also considering taking a zetec for a spin. Would also be good to try an older VD.
