Fred Opert
Fred died in his sleep the night before last. He was, perhaps, the most relevant early pioneer of open wheel road racing in this country. He had a keen eye for talent and and acumen for the business side of racing. As my earliest mentor, he always tolerated my ignorance with tacit amusement, and then pointed me in the right direction.

Wow really sad news. Have met Fred on a few occasions and shared the Titan connection. He was always graceful and humorous. One of the pioneers in the FF and FA heyday. He will be sadly missed.

Fred Opert
I'm sorry to hear of his passing. I didn't know him but did know of him, may he rest in peace. It's sad we have lost to many of the sports luminaries recently.

Did the Fred Opert racing school in 1974.
Bertil Roos was my instructor.
A side thought.....riding back (Bertil Roos driving an Audi Fox) to the hotel from the track, I noticed Mr. Roos's infectious enthusiasm for the sport of Motor Racing.
Mr Opert brought many notable F1 drivers over to drive his cars usually at Trois Rivière.
Sadly for me I was, not no never, one of them....
I did buy my first race car, a Lotus 61 , from Fred Opert Racing in 1974.
Saddened to hear of his passing.
