Preventing corrosion - spare master cylinder

When going over some of my spares, I found an old unused master cylinder with a bit of rust on the inside of the reservoir. I've got rid of that by a dunk in an ultrasonic cleaner.

My question is, what should I use to treat the inside of the reservoir to prevent corrosion, while it is kept in storage. I've kept this spare cylinder for over 20 years.

Most auto machine shops have brown paper treated with a corrosion inhibitor. Put a bag of dessicant, inside the can. Years ago we would double bag machine parts it and even purge with argon welding gas before sealing the bags.

i have a food vacuum bag seeker that you probably could find at a yard sale.

Gee, thanks for that. It’s amazing what is really under your nose. Just under that bench in the picture, is my TIG, and it’s Argon bottle.
