Fitting a air operated shifter to my car with a Quaife trans. It's a Miata, but I'm a former DSR owner, please don't hate! I figure there are some folks here that have tried both re-chargeable high pressure onboard tank or a small compressor and low pressure tank. What has worked best for you?
I tried a small compressor from a motorcycle racing place. It died immediately. Now I use CO2, a little bottle lasts for 100's of shifts.
We use a Geartronics system with a compressor on a Swift 016 works great, it does add some ; weight , some people have problems with the compressor over heating and shutting off it needs good air flow, some folks add a small fan to cure the problem.
Dee can I ask what brand the compressor is? I've heard of people having issues with cheaper pumps.

I have had both. Love using the carbon paintball bottle and recharging with scuba tanks but it just adds overhead. The compressor is much easier! :)Quote:

For those of you who've had both what is the approximate weight saving when going to a tank from a compressor?

follow up question to those that are using the high pressure/no compressor option. Are you monitoring the bottle pressure or recording it to your data system? Do you have a warning system for low pressure? What sensor are you using?
