The best F500 suspension elastomer springs

The title says it all. I finally received a new batch of our very superior F500 suspension spring. These are very high tech elastomer materials that really work. Molded in a multi-cavity mold with a 3/8" diameter hole in them. They are 75 durometer Shore A scale and they really work.

For instance at the 2014 Runoffs 3 or the top 4 cars used my suspension spring elastomers with our rocker geometry.

$25 each.

With all the hype about the latest and greatest in racing - and the fact that some will pay huge prices for a "trick" part, I think it says a lot about Jay (in a positive way) that he sells the best F500 elastomers for $25.

As an FB lurker, do you have an estimation for how long these survive?
In anticipation of the response, "it depends", I'll provide some info.
Car stored off the floor with suspension in droop and unloading the material.
Storage environment is 55 - 80F with low humidity. Not in direct sun and could be covered if suggested.
Track environment is 60 - 105 F and 25% humidity. No direct sun except while on track.
Usual USA tracks with their bumps.

Durability is not an issue unless there is severe heat as in exhaust heat near the elastomers. Typically our cars see about 3 or more years on the elastomers before they should be replaced.

Under normal storage conditions as listed above we have seen no issues at all. The key element is to store or work on the car up in the air. This is to prevent a compression set which can happen if the car is left on the tires for extended time periods.

I am a newbie to these cars. Will these work on a 86 Red Devil?

I am sure they could be used, however they are much different than most others used in other cars and will require new rocker geometry to properly implement them. I have designed rockers for several othe cars and they work very well.

The 2nd place car at the 2014 Runoffs is a KBS conversion that I built. It uses my rubbers and my rockers etc.

Like all the chassis builders in F500, Don is very helpful. I have raced his cars since 1996, and have had nothing but good experiences and results with Don.

Lots of good info and helpful people on both forums. F500.us is more focused on the technical aspects of the 2-cycle engines and CVT, while formula500.org is more general.

The newer Red Devil spring units are quite good. I have checked them on a rate dyno.

I am familiar with your design of the elastomers. I have seen other photos of F500/F600 cars with what appear to be shocks? Are these shocks or are they enclosed elastomer systems of some kind.

Those are enclosed elastomer canisters. Can be very effective. But IMO my system is much more like a linear spring. With my rockers I can make the rates and linearity anything I want it to be.
