Should be the left side. When resealing, use black RTV liberally on the outer flange and use hardened washers (not AN) with new standard (not locknuts) nuts. Tighten the nut, and then put another one on top of it and tighten it. Wait 48 hours. Then, if you wish, you can replace those nuts with either nylock or MS 21042 nuts. On the through bolts make sure they are clean and straight and use the same procedure, or find an appropriately long NAS bolt (very expensive). Hardened washers is critical.
If your gearbox has ben modified to use bolts instead of studs use some form of vibration resistant thread locker, such as VC-3 Threadmate, again with hardened nuts.
thanks Charles, what are the nuts you are talking about ? grade 8 ? I only know jet and nylock. good point on the hardened washers ! I use hardened everywhere there is Mag

You get a good view of the pinion through the top oil filler plug. Wear on the pinion is basically ten fold of the crown wheel so gives an indication of potential crown wheel condition.

Yes but the side plates are leaking so really this is the primary reason
