I have heard some rumblings about a Formula F Pro Series that would follow the F2000 Pro Series series schedule.

The F2000 guys get tons of track time on their weekends, have a spec tire and limit 6 tires per weekend. Just watched them at Mid Ohio this weekend and the top 20 cars were no more than 2 seconds apart. Some great racing.

Has anyone heard more about the possible Formula F pro series? Any more details?

With the intro of the Fit engine a series like this makes a lot of sense.

In the process of optimizing my cooling system, I am wondering about the optimum location for the water temperature sender in my FF1600 (98VD).

I have 4 obvious choices:

Cylinder head. My alu head has a 1/4 NPT threaded hole on the bottom of the front thermostat bowl. Seems this would measure cylinder head temp as much as coolant temp.

Water pump inlet. There is a threaded boss on top of the inlet pipe. Seems this would measure the incoming (cooled) coolant...not sure if that is what I want to know.

Side of block (what we often use as a drain). This would measure the coolant at the cylinder wall.

Inline just after the water leaves the cylinder head. In my case there is a metal pipe inserted between the hose that comes off the top of the head and the hose that goes into the first radiator and it has a threaded boss where I can put a sensor. This position seems best to me, it would measure coolant as it comes out of the engine and not pick up on an signficant engine heat.

Any opinions? (or other similar threads...I couldn't find any with a search).

Thanks

I am repeating here my post in the FC section because FF and FC are joined at the hip regarding chassis construction. What applies in FC with regard to basic construction does and should apply to FF. I might be helpful if you have a reply to post in the FC section that way thread would be easier to follow.

With several new threads concerning rules revisions and new chassis ongoing, I think it important ultimately to focus on the overall chassis construction philosophy of both FF and FC. These classes here in the US have always been of steel tube, non-monocoque construction. FF's worldwide have been built this way. Certainly todays technology allows us to build our cars differently than when these classes were first formulated.

So....should carbon and/or composite tubs and or composite/steel tube hybrid tubs be allowed to run with our current cars in FC and FF?
