Hi Fellow Fat Fans,

I was wondering if anyone has repainted their frame with an anodized finish. My frame is painted with the original clearcoat, but the paint has chipped due to normal riding conditions. The anodized paint is more durable than clearcoat paint. Of course, I would need new frame decals.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!

I'm not sure what paint you are referring to, but anodization is a chemical process for aluminum, and not steel. There are some ways to anodize titanium, but it isn't often used. Any bike you see that is anodized is a pop can. :) Unless there is some new paint out there I'm not aware of, you may be looking for something that doesn't exist.

Powdercoating, however, is a definite possibility. Dry, powdered paint is electrostatically applied to a conductive part and baked harder than nails. Durable, but not always as pretty as a painted finish, though there are some guys who can do wonders with powdercoats.

Doug,

I am looking for a more durable paint finish than the original clearcoat.

Powdercoat sounds like a good alternative.

I found a website --> http://www.spectrumpowderworks.com/

Thanks for your help!
